Nalbandian was defaulted against Cilic on Sunday for kicking out and injuring a linesman.
Nalbandian was leading 7-6 3-3 when he dropped serve in the seventh game and reacted by slamming his right foot into an advertising board which hurt the official's leg.

(Nalbandian) definitely got "his money's worth" pretty bad cut and instantly a fair bit of blood, the line umpire went down to the ground. Then the clown during his on court interview decided to turn it into a rant against the ATP and how many "mistakes they make" that was his 2nd shocking move in 15 minutes. The crowd became more like a Paris crowd because the final was shortened lol

Nalbandian kicked an advertising sign and inadvertently bloodied a linesman sitting above it.
The Argentinian was immediately defaulted from the match, giving Marin Cilic a 4-0 victory.
Nalbandian should expect a suspension from the ATP, one which could extend into next week's Wimbledon.

Nalbandian was leading 7-6 3-3 when he dropped serve in the seventh game and reacted by slamming his right foot into an advertising board which splintered and gashed official Andrew McDougall's left leg.
The shocked McDougall instantly winced and clutched his leg, which had blood seeping from the shin, and after some on-court attention he was eventually escorted off the ground to the club's medical centre.
After prolonged discussions between the umpire and other tournament officials, Nalbandian was defaulted which left the packed Centre Court crowd whistling and jeering.
ATP rules state instant disqualification in such instances but the Argentine, a Wimbledon finalist in 2002, felt he had been harshly punished.

"I'm very sorry to do that," the 30-year-old told the crowd.
"Sometimes you get frustrated on court and it's tough to control...it is a mistake.
"It is a tough moment to end a final like that. Sometimes we feel the pressure from the ATP. It is a mistake and I have to pay for that. Everybody makes mistakes."

Tournament director Chris Kermode said rules had to be obeyed.
"David Nalbandian ran across and in frustration kicked the panel out from under the line judge. It splintered and cut the linesman's leg, leaving him quite seriously injured," he said.
"Rules are rules. The ATP forced us to end the final. David is struggling to come to terms with it. He is very sorry for what he has done."

Mirnyi/Nestor Beat Bryans For Queen's Title

 World No. 1 doubles pair Max Mirnyi and Daniel Nestor defeated defending champions Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan 6-3, 6-4 to win the AEGON Championships trophy Sunday in London.

In a re-match of the Roland Garros final, the top seeds won 24 of their 26 first serve points and broke the Bryans three times to win their fourth title of the season in just 52 minutes, improving to 2-1 against the American twins in 2012.

Mirnyi and Nestor are riding a 10-match win streak, winning 20 straight sets dating back to their quarter-final defeat at the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event in Rome (l. to Bhupathi/Bopanna). In addition to their successful title defence on Parisian clay, the Belarusian/Canadian tandem also triumphed in Brisbane (d. Melzer/Petzschner) and Memphis (d. Dodig/Melo).

Nestor celebrated his fourth success at the Queen’s Club while Mirnyi collected his first crown in five final attempts in London.

The Bryans were aiming to win their fifth trophy at the ATP World Tour 250 grass-court tournament and dropped to a 3-3 record in title matches this year.

oh boy, I've never seen anything like this before. Queens this year turned out to be a complete disaster. I love Nalby, and it's so sad that he lost it completely. strange sh!t .... he was a set up, not sure why he did what he did ... just so odd

I should try to find that video of Nole smashing a bench at RG ... well at least he didn't hurt anyone but the poor bench  ... they had to replace it.

time is running out on nalFATian. he wanted this title pretty bad. titles are hard to come by.
 
he got butchered here  by nole 6-0, 6-1 in 2008 if i am not mistaken.
 
somebody needs to verify that.

yeah, he did back in 2008. Nole killd him.  that was a great tournament. Nole and Rafa played their hears out in the final, super close match but Rafa prevailed. I was heart broken  .

Cilic Wins Seventh ATP World Tour Title



(Nalby last final came in Auckland in January 2011 (l. to Ferrer)…His last title came in Washington in August 2010 (d. Baghdatis)

World No. 25 Marin Cilic won his seventh ATP World Tour title on Sunday at the AEGON Championships capping a strong return from injury.

The 23-year-old Cilic was sidelined for the first seven weeks of the year due to a knee injury, but has come back strongly to compile a 15-9 match record. The Croatian was a finalist at the BMW Open in Munich in May (l. to Kohlschreiber) and two weeks ago reached the third round at Roland Garros (l. to del Potro).

"I played good today and came here to play four, five matches," said Cilic "I won them and pretty comfortably in those first two or three. I’m feeling really good and I think my form is on the spot where it should be."

The Queen’s Club trophy marks Cilic’s first grass-court title and first piece of silverware since triumphing at the St. Petersburg Open (d. Tipsarevic) last October. He had only dropped one set en route to the final of this ATP World Tour 250 grass-court tournament, needing three sets to defeat Sam Querrey in Saturday’s semi-finals.

The final ended in unusual circumstances, resulting in the default of Argentine David Nalbandian. With the score at 6-7(3), 3-3, Nalbandian was stretched wide to the forehand side. After seeing that his forehand had landed wide, resulting in a break of serve for Cilic to lead 4-3, Nalbandian kicked the front of a three-sided sponsor’s advertising board, which surrounds the linesman’s chair. The front board struck the linesman’s left leg, leaving his shin bloodied.

After consulting with umpire Fergus Murphy, tournament supervisor Tom Barnes awarded the match to Cilic by default due to unsportsmanlike conduct from Nalbandian.

"I made a mistake and I apologise," said Nalbandian. "I feel very sorry to the guy. I didn't want to do that. This is a bad situation for everybody that I really apologise for."

"I’m definitely very sorry to finish the tournament like this, especially in the final where we both I think played good tennis," said Cilic. "He was playing also some great rallies and in those last two games it was extremely interesting with making two breaks one of each side. So I think it was good tennis today."
