No riff-raff please, we’re Wimbledon.:rasta: :big boss: :Saddam: :nono: :yay: :blues-brothers: :insane:

No jeans, flip flops and short skirts at this years’ Wimbledon for members of the All England Club, as organisers issued a dress code for the first time amid concerns of slipping sartorial standards.

Jeans, flip flops and short skirts are just not tennis, Wimbledon officials have decided ahead of the championships that start on Monday.

And just to ensure there is no confusion, they have also provided photographic guidance to hammer home their point.

All England Club, has hosted the tennis championships for almost 150 years.

According to some at the illustrious club, the guide effectively warns: “No riff-raff please, we’re Wimbledon.”

The members’ handbook now contains five photographs of an attractive couple illustrating how to avoid the disgrace of being banned from the clubhouse, the Daily Mail reported.

They are considered to be wearing “acceptable dress” in just one picture, which appears alongside the words: “The dress standard for gentlemen is lounge suit or tailored jacket, shirt, tie, trousers and dress shoes.”

“Ladies are expected to dress to a similar standard.”

The other photographs illustrate “unacceptable dress”. The various sartorial sins committed include “T-shirts, distressed jeans and trainers, bare midriffs, jeans and flip flops”.

Strapless tops and shorts are banned, as are “zipper jackets, casual or scuffed shoes, hoodies, pumps and short skirts”.

“The Club’s dress standards in the Members’ Enclosure will be strictly enforced. To avoid any embarrassment please ensure your attire and that of your guests is appropriate,” Members are warned.
You can ignore reality, but you can't ignore the consequences of ignoring reality.

I like the all whites (clothing :)~) on court, but the folks who help pay the bills should be comfortable in their seats.

Nole on autopilot v. J.C.F. up 2 sets to love.

nice win for Nole, but I didn't see the match. I recorded it, so I'll see it later  :). I love Ferrero and it's too bad he had to meet Nole in R1.

now, I'm watching Fed vs. this Ramos clown. Fed toying with him, so funny. Roger is practicing  S&V, hilarious stuff.

OMG, too many good matches. I'm watching Isner right now who managed to win the second set. He was kinda lucky as Falla is playing really well.

All even in the 4th with Big John up 2 sets to 1.  Falla's back hurts and may be the deciding factor.

Isner v. Falla goes to a TB in the 4th.
Falla looking solid off the ground.
Big John is finally cranking on the serve.
3 points each.

A bit of S&V by Falla and a great serve gives him set point! :scared:

Isner drops the hammer and gets to 6 all. :phew:)

Crafty lefty slides a serve out wide in the ad court to save match point
!

A great rally and nice finish to gain another set point.......and he does it!  WOW, what a great set!  Looks like we're going 5 here.

3-3 in the 5th, this is shaping up rather nicely.
Can John reduce the # of FH errors or will Falla find just the 1 or 2 returns that he needs to take the match?

Gulbis looking for the upset!  Up 2 sets to Love, but just wasted two break points at 4-3 in the 3rd.  4-4...

Pressure on Isner to stay in the match down 4-5.
His FH is stinking the place up, only the serve keeping him alive.
No news here.

Nice playing by Falla, he was the better man today.
Hopefully his back holds up for another match or 2.
