30th ace from Gulbis takes him to within 2 points of the match!

Nice call Dallas!  Berdych is out!

You could be the next T4U Astro-Predictor!

wow, so impressed with Gulbis. everyone is calling him a clown, but he can play amazing tennis when he is on. He served like possessed. I just don't understand how can a such talented player go up and down ... you just never know what to expect from him.

That's been the story for most of his career.
He's my replacement for when James Blake retires.
Great shot-maker, usually a heartbreaker to cheer for. :(

my feeling is that he never took tennis too seriously. i.e. Nole's family risked everything they had to make it happen ... Gulbis is coming from a super rich family. He doesn't have to play tennis, he doesn't have to do anything (his dad is a billionaire). I think it's a good thing when you are hungry and I'm not sure how hungry Gulbis is. I really like him and expected so much from him ... if he loses in the next round, I'm gonna kill my self  :zipped:

Gulbis is definately talented ..no doubt about that..but his focus is as good as a baboon.
i remember watching him play against fed & nadal in 2010..& i also think they said he has top10 written all over his game..after that he disappeared.

like alex said, since his family was super rich, he probably didn't have to or probably didn't have any motive to win GS..
Happy for his win & & i also won $2 by betting on him.. :)~.( i dislike birdman :\ )

The Marathon Man John Isner is also defeated by colombian alejandro falla...

looking forward to these matches :

Hewitt vs tsonga
Roddick vs Baker
Murray vs Davydenko.

Fish up 1 set to love, 6-5 in the 2nd after getting the first break of the match (1-7 on BP's :().

......and holds at love for 2 set lead over Hidalgo.

What a crazy service motion from The Spaniard! :lmao:

A quick break from Mardy to start the third (only the 2nd break of the match!) and he's looking stronger on both the serve and FH. :gleam:

WOW, I spoke to soon.  Fish may have gotten a bit cocky, throws in a couple doube faults, faces 3 BP's and gets broke for the first time in the match.  A definite drop in play from Mardy.

Hidalgo swinging freely with nothing to lose down 2 sets.

Ramirez holds to go up 2-1 in the third.
What a sloppy see-saw effort from Mardy.
Desire looks a bit low and so goes the focus. :(

And then he plays 5 good points in a row, go figure. :rofl_2:

Now Mardy following in Blakes footsteps and beginning to have a meltdown whining to the chair.  The ongoing discussion shows a complete lack of class.....
Shut it Mardy. :)>>>>
It's nobody's fault but your own. :)~

Courier (or is it PMac?? I can't tell) calls it correctly when he says it's misplaced anger.

Into the TB for the 3rd set. :\

Mardy starts with a mini-break and 2 holds to go up 3-0. :zipped:
Hidalgo sagging-Fish surging (except for the crappy dropshot attempt).
Instinct/reactions take over for a splendid shoestring volley by Fish on the 6th point, 5-1.

Now 5 match points for Fish........

....and he gets it on the first try.

Not pretty, but on to the next round.

Not Courier or PMac but Adler is the commentator? :confused1:

I looked, but couldn't find your picks in the bracket challenge (as usual). ;-()
The proof is in the pudding.

I had Berdych going deep, as well as Isner.
I'm certainly not looking to take over your position! :))

well I'm very sad that Berdych lost, its just, Gulbis is that kinda player where you don't know what to expect. He hit his best and Berdych tried to stay in the game, but came too short.

Its not that he lost to bad player, but its a shame they had to meet in 1st round..

A wobbly Nadal just squeaks by Bellucci to take the first set.
Let's see if he can hold on for 2 more against the talented Brazilian. :innocent:

Excellent use of the body serve by Rafa.
