this is truly one weird slam........the winner could be just as weird.......with nadal gone, d pot gone, murray won't get a better chance than this........

Soooo...who said the 'era' was weak from 2004-2006?  Ummm...take the top 2 players out of the mix today and what do you have?  The top player from the 2004-2006 era! :rofl_2:  AND...look at all the players still playing from "Roger's" era! :rofl_2:  I'm pulling for all these older players!  Glad they are doing good.

Ferrer is like the Rodney Dangerfield of our sport.  He 'gets no respect'.  Yet he just keeps rolling along, beating the players ranked below him.  Good for him.

So many people had hopes of Del Potro.  Honestly, he had that ONE slam and played out of his mind to win that.  Then the injuries came and he hasn't been the same.  Tsonga is up and down all the time - still searching for that big win.  Murray - for all he's won - still has yet to win a 'set' in a grand slam final.  So I'm not putting faith in him yet.  He can play great one match, and then another match his back, leg, feet, side, knee, jaw, hair, etc. hurts.  I don't get him.  But, as you've said - this seems to be his best chance to at least GET to a Wimbledon final.  But we will see.

you never know with wimbledon and us open........their scheduling never made any sense........

the latest news is that del potro got into a heated argument today morning with the organizers over not moving his 4th round to center court yesterday itself when all the scheduled matches on center court were finished by 7:30 PM and they could play till 11 PM........so that's 3 hours time........he looked absolutely s**te on court today, looked disinterested........

Wow.  He needs to stop letting things like that get to him on court. I didn't see his match today but the scores looked routine.  A lot of folks were disappointed with Del Po.

Yeah, just saw the score. Saw the first set too, not pretty at all.
 
He's got to get off that high he has with one slam, there's more work to be done and Ferrer wasn't on fire by any means from what I saw.
 
Well, I got one horse left and that one looks to be pulling up lame.

didn't see any matches today (and forgot to turn on my PVR), darn ... I expected DP to win against Ferrer, didn't happen ... I expected Gasquet to win against Flo, didn't happen either  :mad1: ... so disappointed with Richie, I'm giving up ... silly clown

It looks like something wrong with his shoulder or his left leg.

Only the slice skill keep him in the match at the moment......

The first flat serve drops at least 10 miles, around 110 miles.
Some commentators around the world said perhaps back injured.

What the hell, Malisse also get some sort of injure on his leg before this match.

And it is raining! :scared:

Federer won the 1st set by coming back. He used backhand slice to create angle and come to net for almost every time. In end of, Malisse had problem to hit his groundstroke.

Malisse has problem with low bouncing ball as Federer gives him a lot of slices with good placement. Federer also draws him to net.

Federer manages to get double breaks. The drop shots and slices are working well for him.

Federer leads 7-6 6-1. He still has problem with his body.

Federer wins by 7-6 6-1 4-6 6-3. Both players are injured in this match.
Back issues don't bode well for his performance the remainder of the tourney. :(

It is indeed a weak era when counter punchers and pushers like Nole & Raf are at the top of the game.  A very sad time for tennis.
