He came from #3 to surpass two of the GOATs of tennis after they each had reached #1 in the interim. Prior to that, chump city competition by and large.

Supremely impressive accomplishment by Federer this, his (soon to be) 286th week at #1.

I don't usually give such matters a 2nd thought and find your observations most astute.

Surely gives some extra weight to each of those trophies.

Fed has a chance still to do more, he wants the olympics and then the USO will be here before long.

He has a decent chance at year end #1 and going over 300 weeks at #1.

Fed's found a nice rhythm to his play now and should be in good shape for quite some time to come.

Again he's laid down the challenge to all comers if they dare enter the arena, there's only one result.

Of course I wouldn't mind a Del Potro forehand giving him a haircut but that will be discussed at a later time.
