The ATP Vegeta Croatia Open Umag is more than just an outstanding ATP World Tour tennis tournament. The event has helped to establish Umag as a symbol of high-quality Croatian tourism. Former Roland Garros champion Carlos Moya has been an outstanding ambassador for the city and the tournament, winning four titles, including three straight between 2001-03.

Dolgopolov Returns To Retain Title
Alexandr Dolgopolov, the former World No. 13, returns in a bid to retain his ATP Vegeta Croatia Open Umag title. Last year, the Ukranian beat home favourite Marin Cilic 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in the final.
Former Champion Reappears - World No.16 Fernando Verdasco lifted the 2008 Umag title, on his only tournament appearance, beating Igor Andreev 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(4) in the final.
Ferrero Returns For Sixth Time - Former World No. 1 Juan Carlos Ferrero, who lifted the 2010 title (d. Starace) after finishing runner-up in 2009 (l. to Davydenko), has a 13-4 record in Umag.
Cilic Holds Croatia's Hopes - Marin Cilic, the 2011 finalist, will be bidding to become the first Croatian winner in Umag since the tournament’s inaugural edition in 1990, when Goran Prpic defeated Goran Ivanisevic.
