well, is this shocking? what is this event? a MAJOR chance to go into history, and a chance that only comes every 4 years.
and yes, they play more for their countries than for themselves.
I disagree with Luggy, bronze is not better than silver, that would be the case when in the past both semifinals losers shared bronze.
to the losers today, it is heartbreaking, they felt in the last hurdle, not in the finishing line, there's not a lot to play between a bronze and a 4th place, but a lot between gold and silver, today the losers felt and were crushed emotionally.
doesn't mater if it was a marathon to remember or forget (Del Potro and Ferrer/Lopez) close matches (Dkokovic, Gasquet/Benneteau, Huber/Raymond -last olympics) or demolitions (Azarenka and Kirilenko).
they simply lost and for what this event means, I can fully understand their sadness, disappointment and tears.
