I was reading a pre match analysis which included an interview with Murray and he seems to be making a big commotion about the final with Federer. I really can't understand why when the prize is the same in all categories. Murray is forgetting that this is not a grandslam and winning the gold is nothing more than adding one more gold medal to his country. I mean lets face it, it is only in the last decade that the top players are taking the Olympics seriously.
So as much as the gold in tomorrows final is vital, that in the mixed doubles holds the same value. Murray needs to remember that this is not a contest between him and Federer but between Great Briton and Switzerland. Either medal is the same. In 20 years time nobody will remember that it took Phelps an average of 3 mins to win any of his medals. Nobody will remember that Phelps won all his medals in basically the same sport. It is the medals they will remember. So Murray shouldn't raise the esteem of the singles match above that of the mixed.

I'm so glad to see the "old guard" still do good. Serena in her 30's and Roger pushing 31. The Bryan brothers winning etc.

I think this just shows in what place we can put Serena, in the all time top 5, it's easy to say that Court, Navratilova, Evert and King would have won a gold medal, but the place of Serena is right there with those mentioned and a certain Graf.
I am very sure not other player has a better page than Serena, the only thing she has not won is the mixed doubles at RG.

well, and that's the secret of both Sisters, a good schedule, while we had nº1 like Jankovic, Safina, Wozniacki. both Sisters know how and where to compete. Sadly, the majority of american members in this forum are not too kind to Sisters, you don't appreciate an unforegattable champion til retirement. Those two sisters, have put and stay American tennis in frontpage for a decade, and not Roddick.

Here's hoping that Federer can finally win at the Olympics. Fingers crossed. I'll probably miss the first hour of the match as I've joined a Spanish class on the weekends, but I'll keep track of the scores on my Blackberry.

The Williams sistas have re-defined women's tennis. Loved watching her dance moves after the victory - she deserved to party after completing one of the most domainant string of perforances, tennis has ever seen.. For her beauty and brutality, Serena Williams is the tennis equivalent of Goddess Kali.. I know MaSha, Vika are GS champions, but Serena, at 30, is way better..

I love them both, but I'm extremely discouraged when Serena has her outbursts.  No one is perfect though. 

Interesting point you make about their schedule.
It's more balanced than most pros who need or prefer to grind it out nearly 11 months out of the year.
I think Williams' natural athletic ability and fiercely competitive spirit allow them to compete less often and still play at the highest level of the sport.  Twill be a sad day for tennis and American tennis in particular when they decide to move on with their lives.

They don't play attacking tennis because they do not believe they can or do not know how to.. I lovved Serena's little dance.. Pro-tennis is so drab, especially the WTA.. Those dance moves were smooth..
