You know, I have to wonder how David Ferrer will handle the pressure of being Spain's leading player at the Olympics.
I used to watch the Olympics for years, but I got a bit upset when they allowed professionals in the sport to compete.
Don't those guys in the NBA have enough glory? To me, it just made a mockery of some of the events.
By the way, off-topic a bit, but here's a guy from way back that I think would have given Bolt a run for his money.
Ladies and Gentemen, the incomparable "Bullet" Bob Hayes in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics (prior to his success in American pro football NFL Cowboys).
They used to say that he only ran as fast as he needed to. Unfortunately the videos below are old and not the best quality, but they get the point across.
In the first video, the individual 100 meter dash, he comes from dead last out of the blocks on the inside lane to win going away.
In the second video, his 100 meter anchor leg coming from close to dead last in the 400 meter relay remains one of the fastest, if not the fastest splits to date. About 8.5 seconds (running start). The USA team is the next to outside lane. Remember, these were dirt cinder tracks, not the bouncy cushion composite tracks of today.
No one man could cover him in the NFL. Vince Lombardi invented double and triple zone coverage to handle him.
