Did it make 1 hour? The first set was something like 19'. I was so full of pancakes I decided to walk to the lake to watch the air show. Seems it couldn't have reached an hour.

Shoot yes!  The 2nd set alone was maybe an hour!  Those 2 guys can cover a court!

no idea why djoper was playing Cinci  :confused1: :confused1: :confused1:

is he chasing money or titles or points ?

one masters between OG and UO  is good enough preparation for UO and one would think that winning slams is priority for player of his caliber  :(

and Fed....... ATP is so weak at this moment : hasn't lost serve whole tournament ....  anyway Well Done :)

It wasn't a satisfying final  :mad1: .

I could have forgiven Nole for such a terrible first set if he had taken it to a third.

The tie-breaker of the second was perhaps the most exciting part of the match but I still saw Fed as dominant there too.

Fed was certainly back to the superb form and more that he showed in the Mardy Fish game on Friday night. That one was the best match that I saw here.

Head home tomorrow at dawn.

Congratulations to Federer & his fans for a superb tournament here. He hasn't dropped a set in winning the title.  Impressive stuff. And a positive step towards his campaign for the USO. 

Federer utterly dominated play with aggressive play in the first set.   Djokovic  put up a good fight in the second set & could easily have taken it.   But he didn't & there it is. He has often beaten Federer, and this defeat is unlikely to cause him insomnia.

It is a trend here for some to begrudge Federer any praise or to acknowledge his efforts. So be it - their petty mindedness speaks for itself.   All I know is that he is enjoying a remarkable year by any standards, and deserves the plaudits he is getting.  Very well done to him.

Djokovic is a gentleman. He is graceful in defeat, and it was good to see him smiling & sharing a chat with Federer at the ceremony, looking relaxed.   I look forward to these two great players crossing swords again very soon.

I'll say this much about his comment. This year was shaping up to be Roger's greatest year of his career. That's why reaching #1 when he did and the way he did it trumps every thing he did in 2005 or 2006. But, like always, a top player falls out of the race due to injury. That said, the slop he was whipping up on in those years couldn't hold a candle to Nole and Murray, so it still may prove to be just that. It's just a shame Rafa couldn't stay healthy this year.

TBH, Federer needed this win more than Djokovic. Nole has won their last 4 hardcourt encounters, so he won't be so annoyed with this result. Hopefully, this win gives Roger some confidence if they meet at the US Open final

3rd ATP Masters title and 6th title overall for Roger in 2012. That's pretty good!  :cool:

This is also his 5th Cincinnati Masters title - he is the 1st player to win it 5 times.  :)

I agree with all of that but especially that there have been better encounters between those two. For me, the greatest was in the semis at the AO in 2011 when both of them played the hottest live tennis that I have ever seen :lmao: .  I was hoping for something similar today but it was not to be.  :(

Thought I'd go back for the ladies final . Have to get the car filled up so need to go out again.

Federer has now equalled Nadal with 21 ATP Masters 1000 titles.  :)

And apparently, this is the 1st time a player has won a Masters without being broken! Another record.  :cool:

actually weak era is last couple of years ( nadal/djoko "era")

Fed being No1 at 31  :king: (Sounds & Feels Great) tells a lot about djoko/nadal who are at their prime  :)~

about nadal outside clay game speaks his record at GS : 1 UO 1 AO & 2W
even djoper can beat that :................................at GS : 1 UO 3 AO & 1W

First - I'm happy that Roger won his 21st Master's, 76th Career title, and 5th Cincy title.

Now about the comment that something may have been different if Nadal had been there.  Well, again, as has been pointed out - Nadal has not won ANY titles off clay since 2010.  So even if he had been in this field - there is no guarantee that he would have won this title.  In fact, history states that he would not have won this.  So that argument doesn't hold water.

Secondly, I'm happy Roger won.  It could have been 6-0 6-0 for all I care and I still would have been happy. :rofl_2:  I want a win (by any means necessary).  Roger is just showing up all the 'experts' who had put him out to pasture because of his age.  He shows he still have something left.  The 'old man' didn't even drop serve at all this entire tournament.

So everyone who is trying to 'down play' this match; or find something wrong with it - I don't care!  I'm happy and satisfied.  So there! :)~
