Sorry your man lost Lugburz.    I saw the second set of the Del Potro / Haas set & I thought Haas looked deflated. The body language spoke volumes.  Your point about the Del potro forehand is noteworthy EUROKA - it is just superb & a quite formiddable weapon.  Interesting that you thought TH served okay. I thought his serve was less of a weapon today - but this would be a by-product of losing focus / confidence, which you mention. 

I'm not a fan of "big servers" who have little else to their game & in this regard, I am not usually enamoured of Raonic's game. However I really like his calm demeanour & mature "can do" attitude.  I much prefer MB's variety but where did it leave him today?  This is typical - putting in the graft but leaving empty handed. 

I hadn't looked at how Hewitt got on - ouch! That was a trouncing!

I saw the first set of Murray / Querry & thought AM looked good.  He returns so well, and thinks on his feet, setting up the result he wants. Good match from him.

But nothing is ever certain..

Example : 3rd round Wimbledon, against Benneteau, #3  vs. #30, piece of cake, right ?
Turned out to be a 5 set, 4 hr affair...

If he gets by Tomic tonight (which he should ), he will get Fish or Stepanek in the next round. My guess is Fish, and Fish has given him tough matches in the past, and even some losses.
If Fish's serve is on, he is very hard to beat, with his S&V play.
If he makes it to the semis, then it's most likely Raonic or Berdych..
Raonic has given him tough matches in the past, Berdych has given him some losses.
I know, Berdych is not playing really well right now, but that's just the problem with him, you never know which Berdych shows up...

So, joke draw ?  Far from it.

I thought last night's Federer match disappointingly bland  . More like an exhibition than intense competition. Hoping for much better in the encounter with Tomic later today!

Before that we have Mardy Fish vs Stepanek and Serena vs Radwanska on Center Court. They should both be good   

Rain is forecast later and I might not even wait around for Djokovic vs Davydenko if the weather is unpromising. Can always get there in 15 minutes if things clear but the forecast says that this will not happen until midnight.

I was sorry to see that Ferrer was defeated last night by Stan W. It will be the first time I have not seen him play here since I began coming to Cincy.    I'm sure the match there was far better than the one we had on Center Court.

....I don't know what to think any more. Roger's draw is a joke again and again. I don't blame him, it just feels so silly. it's been going on for a long time and it defines all odds 

ALEX - there are times when I've thought others have easier draws - I don't accept that it is just Federer. However, I agree that this draw seems a relatively easier one for him at face value.
That said, he has some excellent players to pass & I don't think this will be as easy as it seems.   

^^^  Euroka, I was hoping to hear from you!    I watched the first set of the Federer match & decided it was time to call it a night.  As you say, it was a one sided affair, although I enjoyed what I saw! For me, watching Federer play is not a hardship!!     

Stepanek is an interesting player, I'll watch that match.   

I hope the rain stays away, and you can see the matches you want to see.

watching this match on TV, and pretty happy about it. DP is a much better player than Troicki (who for some reason annoys me btw) but I'm not sure he is well enough to pull this off. I'm just wondering if we are going to see a healthy DP at the USO, or not.

del potro's forehand has lost a lot of venom.......i know this current injury is on his left wrist but his right wrist and the power it used to generate has never been the same since return.......wonder what's going on........
