Istomin is good. He was supposed to beat Chardy just like Roddick was. And you claim Murray was uninterested? Fine. Roddick lost because he was uninterested. 

Roddick has been playing decent recently. He did well at both Wimbledon and the Olympics. Won Eastborne. Won Atlanta. Beat Fed in an exhibition earlier (sure, Fed wasn't going all out because it was an exho, but neither was Roddick) and then for real later on in Miami. And he always plays some of his best tennis at the US Open. He knows how to ride the crowd and the New York crowd is 100% behind him.

i will give you wimbledon 2009........that is the only slam he played at a high level........with the help of larry stefankie, he applied himself towards patient tennis and point construction........that slam belonged to him........strictly speaking, he donated that slam to fed.......

Wow...another 'donation' to Fed   At this rate, some folks are only legitimately giving Roger 1 or 2 slams in his entire career - the rest were "donated" to him.      How fortunate we Fed fans are that so many players like him so much to keep donating slams to him!   All I can say is - Hey, we will accept more... Players --- keep the 'donations' coming!

The problem with Roddick lately has been injuries.  As he's gotten older, he seems to 'break down' more.  His back, his shoulder, his arm, etc.  Unlike some of his contemporaries (Federer, Ferrer, etc.)...Roddick hasn't held up physically like they have so far.  He doesn't have career ending injuries - just little injuries that seems to happen when he plays matches.

His style certainly isn't as smooth as TMF and must wear on him even more with each passing year.  He does seem to be holding up a wee bit better than Nadal at this point.

Andy Roddick reaching semis can not be ruled out. Just as it can not be ruled out for Tomic, Del Potro, Harrison, Monaco or Djokovic. If you are the best, you have to take out the best. Is Andy the best in his quarter?
