Babblelot - your point is a much hackneyed one. The era of the "trio" is being touted as better than the domination of just one player. I think it is better, but is still too predicable & less exciting than if more players were breaking through.
In saying this, I do not stop admiring Federer / Djokovic / Nadal for their superb talents & skills.
My favourite player is Federer, but believe it or not, I enjoy the skills of all great players.
What seems to have eluded you is the possibility that as an admirer of Federer, I can nevertheless consider it tedious that any player - he included - or players, dominate to the extent that all others seem impotent to break through. If the likes of Dolgopolov, for example, could break through, I'd love it.
You draw the inference that I enjoyed Federer's dominance during 2003 - 2006, but find the current situation tedious because he is no longer the only one. To me such an inference is narrow minded and you are wide of the mark in making it.
Whilst I feel no compulsion to justify or explain my views to you, I do so only because I'd like to say that it would be more constructive if comments made here are taken at face value instead of reading things into them. It is a tad arrogant for you to suppose that you know what I mean, more than I do myself.
Adult discussion is one thing & constructive disagreement another. But assumptions & inferences are less than silly. If I made a reciprocal assumption, I'd say yiou don't know what you're talking about. And that would be remiss of me.
