I'm going Days 1-4  :))

will anyone break the tedious stanglehold of the top players

Tedious?  :lmao!:

When did the stranglehold of the top players become tedious to you, or is this a word you simply forgot to put in " " ?

If this is really a grip of yours, I've  got to believe the sport became tedious to you circa 2003-06.

Late bumping in from me. I know I won't be catching a single match at the USO this year unfortunately  :( I shall depend entirely on this place to get the scores.

If it's on espn then they have replays of the matches, most of good ones anyway.

Maybe you could catch a few that way.

Its not the timing...the coming month is packed with work for me. I shall be following the scores though.

I'd prefer to say what I want to say than what you'd have me say, Babblelot.
And if you don't think it is tedious to have the same three men winning the slams ( Del Potro being the exception to that trio) then good for you.   I'd be delighted to see someone else win it - especially Murray.

As for circa 2003 - 2006, I have no clue what you mean.  :rofl_2:     But go on, admit it.  Too much of a good thing gets tedious.   The human condition is an enigma.

Hi Dallas, why do we need yet another US Open thread?

Isn't this one that's been out there good enough - 2012 (Men) US Open - 8/27 - 9/9: The City That Never Sleeps Discussion  - http://www.tennis4you.com/forum/index.php?topic=16862.0?

I thought it might have been changed to a sticky by now ;)

Respectfully,
masterclass

Didn't see that one earlier. No matter though. We will start the Official thread tomorrow anyway.

Doesn't the US Open have a live feed of like 6 courts at once?  I thought they did last year?

Stream ESPN3

And I shall as I have access now. :)
Good Luck on the Court!!!

Nice!  Don't think Babble can respond to this level of prose.  My personal take:  2003-2006 wasn't nearly as tedious as Babble's tedious taunts!
Good luck on the court is nice to have, but it's usually extraneous when playing against Baker.

Don't stir the pot, Free. I know you really want me to take out the :hammer:

It will remain a mystery as to why one man's stranglehold on the tour wasn't tedious to Fedfans. Three player domination is somehow worse than one?  You people are an odd bird (bad pun intended).

+$200 tickets just don't fit my modest budget, that's why it went 11 GS before I finally got to see the  :king:  in person in Madrid. And, from mine eyeballs, IMO I saw the best match he's ever played. You're all talking about his aggressive play now. I saw it first and first hand. In Madrid. And when I tried to tell y'all what I saw, no one was interested. But now you've caught up.  ;-()

my draw prediction,

- federer will get his bunny ferrer in the semis and a bunch of old chumps before semis......
- del potro, murray and djokovic will have to fight it out like fools all being in the same half.......
- just a very boring draw with a lot of boring matches in the federer half......

Which match did you watch, Babblelot? Madrid Masters 2009 final?

1R v. Raonic. If you can, find the discussion in that thread I was trying to start but couldn't pull anyone in. I was pretty miffed by folks here at the time.

.....................Nice!  Don't think Babble can respond to this level of prose.  My personal take:  2003-2006 wasn't nearly as tedious as Babble's tedious taunts!

:rofl_2: Thanks for the laugh, Freebird!    I'm grateful to Babblelot for an honest exchange.  Food for thought is preferable to watching paint dry.

Babblelot - your point is a much hackneyed one.  The era of the "trio" is being touted as better than the domination of just one player. I think it is better, but is still too predicable & less exciting than if more players were breaking through.
In saying this, I do not stop admiring Federer / Djokovic / Nadal for their superb talents & skills.
My favourite player is Federer, but believe it or not, I enjoy the skills of all great players.

What seems to have eluded you is the possibility that as an admirer of Federer, I can nevertheless consider it tedious that any player - he included - or players,  dominate to the extent that all others seem impotent to break through.  If the likes of Dolgopolov, for example, could break through, I'd love it.

You draw the inference that I enjoyed Federer's dominance during 2003 - 2006, but find the current situation tedious because he is no longer the only one.  To me such an inference is narrow minded and you are wide of the mark in making it.

Whilst I feel no compulsion to justify or explain my views to you, I do so only because I'd like to say that it would be more constructive if comments made here are taken at face value instead of reading things into them.  It is a tad arrogant for you to suppose that you know what I mean,  more than I do myself.

Adult discussion is one thing & constructive disagreement another. But assumptions & inferences are less than silly. If I made a reciprocal assumption, I'd say yiou don't know what you're talking about. And that would be remiss of me.
