Tipsarevic-Ferrer could go 4 hours tomorrow.

Side note to today's action:
Alex and Shankar successfully boycotted Day 10.
no Babs, not sure about Shank, I'm just having a really bad stomach flu. feeling so tired, just didn't really feel like posting anything.  I watched most of the matches today including Berd/Roger. Kudos to Berdych for sure. still feel that he will fail to win against Murray. not sure, who knows?

the way I see it is Djoko vs. Muzza final. Nole winning. but this is the best opportunity for Murray to win a major. it is going to be very interesting.

Hope you get over the flu soon Alex,Berdych is 4-2 up in h2h with Murray,i would have wanted Fed before him.

Cheers D, although I'm not kinda fan of Berdych. I'm fan of Haas, and Haas alone.
Berdych is just one guy among Kohli, Stan, Gasquet, Tsonga, Mahut, Blake, Fed... that I really like/enjoy watching.
When Haas retires , we'll see who'll take #1 spot(most likely Kohli)

Win vs Fed at this stage at USO is certainly a huge thing, and boy I'd like him to take the trophy now!
It would be such a tremendous boost for his confidence, no more lousy defeats in early rounds!

The match was amazing, so many crazy shots by both players, especially some of Fed's insane volleys.
It would have been much closer if Fed didn't make so many UE's. But tbh plenty of those that 'they' counted as UE I saw as pretty forced..

Anyway, time for magic vs Murray in semis, hopefully!

Is it that Berdych hits the ball flatter and harder than everyone else? I think it might.
LOL, just responded to a post from Luggy suggesting that could be one of the reasons for his inconsistency.
He absolutley crushes the ball and the margin for error is not as high as those players who hit with heavy top.

I don't know if my comment came across as intended because I forgot to quote the post I was responding to.

I was asking (and then answered): Is Roger producing so many errors because Berdych hits a flatter and harder ball than anyone on tour? It's easy to say Roger was making too many errors. Isn't it because of Berdych's ball -- flat and hard?

yes Babble,
Berdych hits it so clean and flat and hard, one of the hardest hitters on tour definitely. If not the hardest.
With Gonzo's retirement, only few guys left on tour hit it as such. Soderling crosses my mind, Blake, Haas, Tsonga....
Kohli and Stan also can hit it hard and flat, but not as close as those mentioned above.

I just wish there are more players like Berdych with that clean game..

It was a combination-- yes Berdych hit the ball flat and hard, but some of Rogers' misses were on regular shots. Many of those forehand misses were just BAD! Lol! But Berdych took it to Roger, stuck with his game plan and won. I had hoped Roger could have gotten it to the 5th set when I would have liked Rogers's chances...but it wasn't to be.

Alex, of all the top players, Berdych has a winning overall record only against one of then, and that's Murray - so he goes in with at least a chance there. But if he some how get by Murray, I don't give him a chance against Novak.

The only person left in the draw that I halfway like now is probably the one player least likely to win it - Ferrer! Lol

Right now it's looking like a Murray/Djokovic final.

And even though Roger lost - I'm still so proud of what he has already accomplished this year. Not bad for the old guy!!!

I'm thinking right now, watching the Fed/Berd match again that Roger not playing against Fish actually hurt him. same thing that happened to Nole last year at RG. I don't think the top guys need to play too much. However,  I strongly believe that they need that rhythm especially at slams. Kudos to Berdych, but still I think Fed would have being better prepared if he had played against Fish.

He was sluggish...but in that first set, particularly, Berdych was on.  He hardly made any errors, and he was hitting his serve and the ball really hard.  So all credit to him in that first set and particularly in the tie-break.  Roger had so many errors (and maybe that attributed to him not playing)... But it just wasn't his night last night.  He has accomplished so much this year.  Getting the Wimbledon title, getting back to #1 to break Pete's record, getting a medal for the Swiss at the Olympics, winning some big master's titles, keeping his grand slam QF record streak alive, and all being one of the oldest players on tour - still competitive.  So I'm a little sad that he lost - but I'm also happy with everything he has accomplished this year too!  It's all good!

Now to see how the rest of the tournament will play out!!!!  Good luck to all the rest of the players and their fans here! :))

has anyone noticed yet that this is the first slam since roland garros 2004 that doesn't feature both federer and nadal in the semifinals?
