Gulbis is the spoilt brat par excellence.  Talent alone won't do it & he is a classic example.     

Thanks for the schedule of play Swish. there are some potentially tantalising matches there:

Fish -v- Simon;   Almagro -v- Sock,  Blake -v- Raonic , for example.

From today, I'm glad to see Del Potro, Gasquet, Dolgopolov & Hewitt through.   I've been watching  Isner / Neiminen & Isner will take the 4th set to go through.   

I'm now watching Roddick / Tomic.  For old times sake, I hope AR gets through.



     
Gulbis is coming from a super rich family (I think his dad is worth billions). I'm sure you know it. Although, a great player he is just not hungry enough and I don't think he'll ever be. waste of talent. just my 5 cents.

meanwhile, Roddick is playing very well.

I rest my case on Tomic... :rofl_2:  Sure, he's young...but Gulbis and others had 'hype' too...and we are still waiting for their full potential.  Tomic, even before tonight, has not impressed me.  He reminds me of the men's version of Caroline! :rofl_2:

Elsewhere, Paire is up 2-1 on Kohli. I think this kid is going to be pretty good.

And The Great Fognini takes out GGL--pleasant surprise to me. Roddick-Fognini Sunday :)

AR really looking good. playing like in his best days, trying really hard. Tomic looks clueless  :innocent:.

I just hate all commercials. I have to watch the match by simply pausing the match and get some time to skip all the commercials. It's driving me crazy

From the courtside interview, Roddick's comment made me think there was some history between him and Fognini. I thought calling him his old friend was sarcastic  :confused1:  I hope there's bad blood, although playing on Ashe, I see Fognini folding like a lawn chair.

Andy Roddick finally learn to play serve and volley!  Wow!  6-3, 6-4, 6-0!  Last Open and Andy plays loose and free! Ironic with his serve he should of done that 10 years ago!

 fantastic play by AR. love his net play. Tomic was just like 'I don't know what to do here'. I still don't think he should retire. I feel that AR lost his passion for tennis but his skills are still there.

Murray will probably reach the semis. An encounter with Raonic lures, and could be tricky.

Federer probably has a tougher draw with Verdasco, Fish/Simon, and Berdych, before playing Murray.

Djokovic faces Wawrinka, Del Pony/Roddick and then Isner/Tipsarevic/Ferrer.


It is just waiting till the semis, were the real action starts. Or the iPhone 5 announcement of course.

'Tis a fine morning here in old Blighty!  I'm looking forward to watching some tennis too.

The Federer / Verdasco match might be entertaining. Apparently FV is relishing the prospect.  It will be interesting to see whether he has a fetish for getting beaten or enjoys teasing.  Federer could have his hands full here.  I'll be watching this one.
Also the Blake / Raonic.

What an excellent match by Roddick!  As for Tomic, he looks very much like a work in progress.

SID  -  I agree re: foregone conclusions.  Whilst I see Djokovic in the final unless there is an upset,  there is no such clarity in the other side of the draw.  It looks like either Federer or Murray.  But Alex's point about predictability stands. 2 of the top 3 will most likely be in the final.

By the way, where's Rosol?    :rofl_2:

I still think Haas will win because of the HC surface. I truly believe that the variation in tennis surfaces is a big factor in the UK finals.
