I still think Haas will win because of the HC surface. I truly believe that the variation in tennis surfaces is a big factor in the UK finals.

:confused1: He was knocked out in the first round.

it was a recent joke  :)~  check ATP Halle thread  :)

I'm watching the Almagro / Sock match. This is entertaining stuff.  Almagro broke to go up 4-2 in the third set but Sock broke back & is serving to even it up. It is one set all.  The crowd is no doubt helpful to Sock, but I like his deneanour & on court attitude.  This could go either way & I'm impressed with Sock's efforts here.

Murray / Lopez are warming up.  It should be Murray in straights here.

Thanks, Babblelot. They're great!   :)

JS has had his chances to break NA again, but couldn't do it. This looks like going to another tie breaker.

Klizan / Chardy closely contested too, but MK got the break & is serving for the set.

NA takes the third set tiebreak 7-2.  He is playing well - Babblelot  are you watching the match? Nice clean groundstrokes and a cool demeanour saw him through. Sock's poor serving helped, no doubt!

Murray was up 0-40, 5-4 but couldn't convert the break points. Lopez ditto on AM's serve.  These two look like they want to make a meal of it! Thus far, anyway.

Cilic / Nishikori in a 3rd set tiebreak. KN could take it to a 4th set here.

And he has.

NA up 4-1 in the 4th set, and looks like ending JS's run here.

Well, talking to oneself has its merits but I'm off! Enjoy the tennis everyone.-

trying to watch both Fed and Murray at the same time. I can't believe how line guy/ empires can be so blind. I hate to say this, but just complete idiots. so many bad calls, or no calls at all ... there was a point where the ball was out like 1 mile and they didn't call it out ...   :\. JMac was saying how the line guy was choking ... well that was funny, NOT

I missed the Almagro match   :(

Good to hear that Nico kept it cool and calm out there today. That meant he was very respectful of a pro-American crowd and that he didn't want them to turn on him. Smart  :smartie:  Unapologetically, I like players that awe me with their talent and make me laugh with their on and off court personalities. Almagro's quite a character and likes to keep the chair umpire involved in the match. He wasn't watching his P's and Q's during the first 2 rounds.

I was really pleased with Sock as he was on my wish list. However, he was playing such a poor opponent in Cipolla that I couldn't adequately evaluate him. Glad to hear that he impressed.

Klizan...has anyone been able to watch this guy. The only thing I can determine from scoreboard watching is that he does not like French people. Unheralded player into the 4R. Great effort.

Up 2-1 sets now as Lopez took the 3rd. They said he was cramping. We will see about that.

Raonic is very - uh - colorful out there with an orange top with green, red, white, and blue stripes! My verdict is still out on that shirt. Right now I'm leaning towards an "I don't like it" verdict.

Never seen Gilles Simon play like this!  It a very casual tactic.  I think he is hurt!

I agree. I've been watching him here, and like his attitude. He looks comfortable on court. Unheralded indeed, but perhaps getting noticed having beaten Tsonga.  I accept that Tsonga wasn't himself in this match, but this clip gives an indication of how Klizan plays, if people haven't seen him:

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga vs Martin Klizan Highlights US OPEN 2012

The Almagro / Berdych match should be good.  Good for Berdych to pull back the momentum after losing the first set to Querry.

Fish plays Federer next. Another one that should be interesting.

I'm not sure what Murray was up to against Lopez, but whatever it was, I hope he's got it out of his system if he wants to win this title.  He should have put Lopez away a lot sooner than he did.   He was up a set when Federer / Verdasco started & was still playing after Federer closed it out.  He'll be tired against Raonic, who looks confident & up for the challenge here.

Poor Blake. At least he showed he can play Raonic by taking him to a tb in the 3ed set. But he never looked a threat to MR.

There are some great matches in store today. Here's the schedule:

Oh that guy. I was watching Klizan warming up before the first match on on Grandstand and had no idea who he was. Thanks GBY.

Some good matches today indeed.

Well, Djokovic outclassing Benneteau as expected. I'm watching this a bit as I concentrate on Hewitt / Ferrer, but Djokovic playing beautifully.  Up a set and a break and hitting some sublime shots.

As for LH he just lost set points to let DF back in.  DF in return couldn't take the opportunity anywhere. These two are a tad tight still. 9-8 to LH in the first set TB with DF to serve.
