What exactly is the point of harping on about how boring the USO is this year? It isn't compulsory to watch it & quite why the damper has to be put on it by bleating on about it here is beyond me. 

As for the matches, I'm watching  Ferrer / Gasquet and RG playing some sublime tennis to equalise it in the first set. Just beautiful shot making. His sh backhand is a work of art.   This alone makes watching the USO worth watching. !    But DF just broke him to go up 6-5 & will serve for the set.   I'm  thoroughly enjoying this match.

And DF wins the first set with style. The commentator saying RG has never beaten DF, who has always won in straights.  I doubt if this match will have a different result.

Does it feel a bit boring TO ME because Haas was knocked out in 1st Round? Yes. But saying it is boring in general is nonsense.

I've enjoyed it so far, Kohli beating Isner was a treat to my eyes, great run by Gasquet and Berdych. Sweet cruising mode for Wawrinka.

Lotsa great matchups to follow, at least in my eyes.

But I can see you are finally getting cracked up by Nadal's time of the courts, saying the tour is boring wthout him.

I warned you multiple times not to insult players who can't stay healthy(last time I remember DelPo in his own thread)

There's no harder thing in tennis than not watching your fave player play.

grandslam tennis is a show of top guns and nadal is one of the trump cards of ITF........get me back the conditions of 90s and i will start enjoying different styles again watching lesser ranked giving nightmares to the top guns and things will start to get more puzzling........

when i know that nobody outside the regular 2 or 3 is ultimately going to win or at least get to the final, my interest lies with those top few players........now if one of them is sidelined, the tournament is half interesting all of a sudden because the focus is on the top players........that is not just my feeling, most people feel the same way........you can't blame me for that........

i have seen on other forums, majority of fed fans miss rafa........you speak of haas but to me you come across as more of a fed fan than haas fan........and apart from that you wouldn't have many expectations over haas, so his presence or absence doesn't make as much difference to you as you think........

That speaks to what I said in the thread about his injury. The knucklehead (alk11) there was drawing a connection between greater attendance and higher TV ratings with the absence of Nadal.

Anyway, of course spectators and Networks alike want to see the top players, all of them, even if it's to hate on them. Those who wish Nadal away are terrified  fanboys who don't want to see their hero lose yet another match to Rafa.

Gasquet had so many chances to take this set, and Ferrer made him give them back.  He plays with such heart & determination, DF, and works so hard. What a superb attitude. 

But, oh! RG! You break my heart!     Anyway, I hope it will be another well played set.

10 matches have seen a winner come back from 0-2 sets and, well, we're not keeping count of those who trailed 1-2 and came back to win; Kohi was the most recent, there.

The problem with tennis in general is that 90% of the TV matches suck because the seeds are protected until the weekend, and the networks are obligated to show terrible early round match ups that include terrible women's matches. And if Rafa was here, it would be 3 more terrible televised matches. It's always been that way. This year is not exceptional.

Well, that's based on someone who pretty much wants to watch Rafa.   And in week 1, what do you think you missed?  A qualifier, 1 guy in the top 100 and one guy in the top 75 against Rafa?

Federer was touched by the hand of God himself in more ways than one. So Nole and Delpo already had to play more matches in fewer days. Now this!
