There is a big difference between Federer/Nadal and those other 3 matches. Federer does actually try to be an aggressor in the match but gets caught up in trying to hit through a backboard which Delpo is trying to do and is losing.
The other 3 matches, it is backboard vs backboard with Nole/Murray being the worst with the cat-mouse tennis and who can hit the worst drop shot  contest.

thumbs down to djokovic........chickening out and losing his top spot in the absence of nadal and back to his fake roaring in the absence of both nadal and federer........all that yelling at d pot who's trying to find his level back on tour was unnecessary........nobody asked him to lose his olympic bronze match, wimbledon semis and cinci final........he himself chickened out of all those matches........so there was no need to get too fired up against somebody like d pot........show your attitude against nadal when he comes back........

Excellent observation, Retro    I had to call it a night after the first set & a bit, but even then it was clear that trying to out-slog  ND from the baseline was not going to get the job done.       And ND doesn't need a special diet either. He's had a perfect tournament thus far - no robust challenge, no drawn out matches, nothing to get wound up about.  Just honing his skills. Conserving energy & fresh as a daisy.   He played superbly against Del Potro.

Del Potro is a favourite of mine and I love his game when he feels able to play well. But he should do himself a favour and re-think his strategy.  Creativity is not his forte.  A good effort from him as he made a match of it.

So it's   DF / ND  &  TB / AM.      Could the unthinkable happen  -  a TB / DF final?

i have a different view on d pot........players are just what they are, that's what makes them what they are........the same brand of tennis won him a slam and is capable of winning him several slams........as we all know his problem is fitness and he needs to sort that out first, then that forehand which is not as effective as it was in 2008/09........playing back to back consecutive days probably din't help his cause today because djokovic's fitness levels are much higher these days........

it was a straight set beating but there was not much in it especially the first and second set........del potro served for the second set but just couldn't close it out.......had he taken it, who knows djokovic would have chickened out again........

imo del potro needs to continue with the same game plan and somehow get back that 2009 forehand.........in addition to that a good slice will always come in handy.......that's all he needs, not many major changes........

just editied my previous post. but are you really out of your mind? how is he chickening out? he is leading the race. he beat both Nadal and Roger so many times at slams. I really don't know what you are talking about.

LOL, just responded to a post from Luggy suggesting that could be one of the reasons for his inconsistency. 
He absolutley crushes the ball and the margin for error is not as high as those players who hit with heavy top.

It was a combination-- yes Berdych hit the ball flat and hard, but some of Rogers' misses were on regular shots. Many of those forehand misses were just BAD! Lol! But Berdych took it to Roger, stuck with his game plan and won. I had hoped Roger could have gotten it to the 5th set when I would have liked Rogers's chances...but it wasn't to be.

Alex, of all the top players, Berdych has a winning overall record only against one of then, and that's Murray - so he goes in with at least a chance there. But if he some how get by Murray, I don't give him a chance against Novak.

The only person left in the draw that I halfway like now is probably the one player least likely to win it - Ferrer! Lol

Right now it's looking like a Murray/Djokovic final.

And even though Roger lost - I'm still so proud of what he has already accomplished this year. Not bad for the old guy!!!

But I've yet to see a logical explanation for why missing a day of match play could possibly be the cause for missing those shots.

I'm thinking right now, watching the Fed/Berd match again that Roger not playing against Fish actually hurt him. same thing that happened to Nole last year at RG. I don't think the top guys need to play too much. However,  I strongly believe that they need that rhythm especially at slams. Kudos to Berdych, but still I think Fed would have being better prepared if he had played against Fish.

Show me the money.
Nadal's game is predicated on rhythm.
Fed's is not.
He served like crap for most of the match and paid the price.
Tomas played Like a Boss and advances to the next round.

It's all so Andy Roddick 2004. Delpo can blow away lesser competition but the top guys have his number because he's a one trick pony (ha ha, see what I did) .

Whats good about hitting it as hard as you can only to get a return nonetheless?
 There were times where Tipsarevic simply couldn't have hit it any harder, and flatter, any cleaner and yet Ferrer returned anything. You just wait until Tipsy hits the net. And then wooow what an incredible rally.....mehh booooring....

In contrary, to say what I find as the beautiful tennis as you can get. If anyone remember Blake-Gonzo Olympics '08, that was tennis to me!

Alex, you know Start da Game criticizes every player, including his precious Nadal, so you know he's going to criticize everyone else! Don't take him so seriously - I don't! Lol

Novak is going fantastic in this tournament. He's had a favorable draw up to last night. Then when he gets a top player - he handles him in straight sets when he should have lost at least one of those sets. He's on a roll that right now, no one can handle.

Personally, I don't like the way he has been celebrating at the end of his matches - but hey - it's his choice, and I'm sure his fans love seeing the fight and passion he's showing. More power to him.

For the SF - I will pull for Ferrer, but honestly don't think he has a prayer.

In the other SF - I don't really like either of them, so whoever wins - fine with me.

I know a lot of people want to see Murray win his first grand slam. I'm not one of them! Lol

My wish is that either Ferrer, Novak, or even Berdych take the title instead of Murray, but that's just me. Lol

Dallas, I find all of you to be my friends (Shank included of course) but Shank sometimes just goes over the board with his comments. It doesn't matter if it's Nadal or Djokovic but his perception is sometimes really strange. Sorry Shank btw. I like logic and not too much emotions, but I guess we are all different.

as for semis, I'm looking forward much more to the Murray/Berdich match than Djokovic/Ferrer. I don't think Ferrer has any chance in that match, while Berd vs. Murray could be much more interesting.

All I can say is that I enjoy the tension and to me the outcome of yesterday's match was very uncertain.
It all comes down to personal preference  . My particular tedium comes from the big servers when it is all cheap points  .

I watched the first two sets of last night. I thought it great tennis but that Djokovic was always ahead and when the second set was over it was time to turn out the lights  . It was either going to be more of the same or a VERY late match.

On court mannerisms also affect people differently. I don't mind Nole's at all but strongly dislike those of others to the extent that I don't want to watch.

Yep I don't enjoy watching the big servers either.
I agree on the uncertainty, its always interesting when you can't see the outcome 'til its over. And when neutral guys play its most fun, but I just prefer aggressive tennis with with attacking attitude and some S&V style. Thats why I enjoy watching all-around players.
