fed is serving bigger than ever and he is doing a superb job of taking the net away when he has to and also when the opportunity presents itself.

but i can tell you that his greatest improvement is in his fitness. i think he has taken his fitness to another level.

no way you can perform like this at this level at this age even if you are gifted if you dont have the optimal fitness.

i hear he is also spending more time in the gym doing a lot of resistance training.

lots of reps not anything heavy.

and did i mention that he has a family? no less than 2 daughters.

he is still showing players 1/2 his age how to make it happen.

Interesting you brought up the training in the gym.
His chest muscles seem to have gained some mass.

I also heard that he is strengthening his arms to better handle higher BH's.

fed has said that this is no accident. he says that he has put in a lot of hard work.

he is dedicated to excellence every single day general swish.

this really is no accident. he is paying the dues on daily basis. the guy even stretches twice a day even on his days off.

I can't lie to you CD, the only stretching I do is to get another drink.

Lets see what Simon has, he can frustrate even the best if he's on.

Fish is the kind of guy that'll let Simon get under his skin.

It's not just the chest, it's the legs as well, I was discussing it with Alex yesterday and his calves look thicker than they used to do, also he's got less fat in the ab area, he won't get a six pack but he's definitely in the best physical shape of his life.

Fish (at the US Open) can give Roger trouble;  and some how Roger ALWAYS have trouble with Simon.  So it's not a cakewalk in the next match for Roger.  I just hope he can get through regardless of who he has to face!

Yes Nat - Roger is much stronger now then he's ever been. He doesn't have that same explosive first step as in 2004, but he makes up for in other ways. Like with his serving, drop shots, better backhand. Bottom line is he finds newer ways to win points to offset the points he loses because he isn't as quick as before.
Then we will fight in the shade.

Better for Fed to play Fish, Fish's game will help Fed prepare for the later rounds.

Sorry but Fish has no chance against Roger. Roger is in destruction mode right now since the Olympics and he's taking no prisoners. Fish can Pray for Death.

Yes Alex, Roger is now more tactically smart, in his prime he was all about relying on his talent, right now he plays smarter tennis without losing his essence and that's why he's back to the top.  :lmao:

i am watching the fish vs simon battle folks.

dad just called. even he is watching fish play.

did you see him do a sampras and fed immitation with that flying slam?

waters have receded fast general scott. all is back to normal now. we will know more about the physical damages from the storm in the coming days.

i hear water levels rose quite high in some parts of louisiana. we are talking 5-7 feet of water in some residential areas.

arkulari fed is on a tear. it is going to take a big time match to slow him down.

the dude has now won 24 of last 26 matches. that can give a player a lot of confidence.

24-2 since Roland Garros, having won Wimbledon, silver medal and Cincy. Unreal!

Regardless if it's Fish or Simon, each are to the death what Roger is to the living. Roger's first true challenge I expect in the semifinals.

Crazy match right now between Fish and Simon.  Fish was on cruise control and the wheels came off.  1 set a piece.  Looks like I will be awake longer than I thought.  A looooong 5 setter is just what the doctor ordered considering who they play next.  :)
Good Luck on the Court!!!

fish is serving at around 46%. and he has around 32-36 unforced errors already.

so his high risk game cannot possibly work against simon over the course of 5 sets.

this is why i picked simon the match long before before it started.

now unless simon is injured and cant finish, he is probably going to win this match.

like general swish says, simon is getting under the fish scales slowly and surely.

fish`s last match was a 5 setter also.

i doubt he can escape this one but we will see.

should be interesting anyway.

Simon is such a boring player, he went out of my "watchable" list definitely after that disgraceful mess of a match vs Monfils at the AO 09.

And I suffered through a match between him and Robredo in Bercy 07. Probably the worst live match I've ever witnessed.  :mad1:
