well its been a tough day. i have been without power all day. i missed all the action from the u.s. open.

this storm is not done yet. over 700,000 homes are without power in louisiana.

it is going over baton rouge now which is where my parents and my little brother live.

mom and dad have power but my brother is without it. he does have a powerful generator so that will help out.

very tough loss for haas and his fans. he really let one get away.

I knew this might happen, but not in this kinda fashion.

It seemed so easy and and it was very easy wrapping this match up. But Gulbis showed doubters once again that he can fight and he can fight good.

Another thing, the draw was opening great for him, should have he won.

Even with great year so far, last 2 slam draws were just brutal.
Catching Kohli on fire in 1st Round at Wimbly, now Gulbis at USO.
It just makes me sad, cause from now on, looking back at last 2 slams.. all thats left for me is to deal with 'what ifs'.

But I guess we'll never know what would have happened if he 'had more luck' with those draws. Or at least won one of those 2 brutal match-ups....

Haas out in the first round.
I had some high hopes for him, he played some very good tennis recently and looked pretty sharp.
 
Gulbis is the strangest player around.
 
I used to back him but had to drop him.
I couldn't support a player who didn't seem to take the game seriously.
The wasting of the tremendous gifts he has over the years just was too hard to invest in emotionally.

Is he strange player?, Yes. You just never know with a guy like him. Sometimes he's just unbeatable, and yet sometimes he 'looks uninterested'.

He needs to grow up tennis wise, but I don't think he doesn't take the game seriously.

i am so sorry Lug for Haas's lost but you should have understood that he is aging and being mentally strong is not his merits and he is getting a bit old.  Anyway, reaching top 20 at this old age is not bad

yeah I am very well aware of that, but he lost completely winnable match today. Going 2 sets up and a break in 3rd isn't about getting a bit old. Oh well, better luck next time....

You have a point, no one can go on the court and play a hell of a game without working.
So Gulbis does work but at times he does some silly things on the court, dumb shots and laughs about them.
 
I just don't know what to make of him and can't trust he'll put in full effort.
 
 
The only player similar to some degree is Davydenko, both of them are a gamblers nightmare.

general swish a very large tree fell pretty close to my back deck last night.
 
this sucker was massive. glad it fell away from the deck.
 
there is widespread flooding here in hancock county, mississippi. flooding issues are far worse in louisiana.
