he said he was going to concentrate more on softer surfaces next year. he needs to stop lying to us and to himself.

looks like he wants to sit on the sidelines again for most of the year next year too.

Thing is Nadal coming back during the Abu Dhabi/AO/IW/Miami will give his in-form rivals a chance to apply some beatings that will injure his confidence heading into the next clay court season. I think it's a bad idea. Imagine he comes back for the February South American clay swing(Buenos Aires & Brazil), then Monaco/Madrid/Rome(skip Barcelona), RG, Wimbledon and then play a few selected clay court events the rest of the season. Take the fines and stay OFF hardcourts.

there will be no fines for him anyway.

his knees and his feet are messed up anyway. there is plenty of evidence to provide by his doctors.

he just needs to stay off the hard courts as much as possible so he does not hurt his chances of defending this RG crown.

that should be his foremost goal right now. he doesnt really need anything else.

he will lose his chance at even RG just like he did in 2009 if he doesnt stop destroying his knees on hard courts.

i just saw this at tennis.com. he is a fool.

you know they offered him around $1.5 million for that. like he really needs the money.

i have no sympathy for this moron. would not suprise me at all if he damages his knee more compounds the issue at this exo. the whole world is already laughing at him.

only left now to do is destroy the other knee and then its done.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- Rafael Nadal plans to return from a knee injury at an Abu Dhabi exhibition tournament in December.

Organizers of the Mubadala World Tennis Championship said on Tuesday in a statement that Nadal is set to join a field including Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and David Ferrer.

The tournament runs from Dec. 27-29.

Nadal hasn't played since losing in the second round of Wimbledon in June. He is recovering from a partially torn patella tendon in his left knee.

The 11-time Grand Slam champion said last month he had no timetable for his return and was targeting the Australian Open in January for his return to competitive tennis.
