sports bar is good for all kinds of talk. they are talking politics at all of the sports bars around this country right about now.

why should we be any different general fed fan.

politics are like sports in many ways. :))

i am enjoying the contest between those 2 as is everybody else.

cheers.

i might travel to acapulco. that will be a good reason to travel there and also see acapulco in the process.

Politics works only when everyone basically agrees. Believe me, life on a political blog is hell.
Then we will fight in the shade.

nonsense.

nobody agrees on sports either. look at the fighting that goes on between fed fans, murray fans, nole fans, and nadal fans.

in fact that is the only reason why mtf works. they let them all fight it out. but we know they are biased there so they usually get rid of the high profile nadal fans in the end.

politics and sports go hand in hand. everybody is using 10,000 sports analgies for these presidential debates that are going on for instance.

and that is exactly what it is. and it is even more important than sports because it actually affects our lives.

those chat forums that are busy are that way because nobody really gets along too well and becaue they disagree about most everything about sports.

you need that friction to some extent.

major prediction here sports fans:

fed will nail the WTF this year. not sure how well he will do at the paris masters but he is all business at WTF.

depending on the draw we might have a murray vs fed final. or a nole vs fed final.

i am thinking that nole has to be getting worn down again because of the grind of the long season.

Good day gen. Hercules and Lugburz. :) I'm back from our family trip!

Happy belated birthday Gen. Hercules! I hope you enjoyed it and are relaxing!

It was a nice trip. We got together with my mom and her husband and stayed at a very nice apartment together. Kids had a great time.
Only one "difficulty" was there was no internet in the apartment. It's amazing how out of touch one feels without the internet when one usually has it.  Anyway, we got to play some tennis with my mom on red clay (she's used to the green Har-Tru) and that was fun.

Now they have traveled on to France and we have returned.

Looks like things are going a bit slow on the forums from what I can see.  Slams are over, but I see Djokovic beat Murray in Shanghai after winning in Beijing. Congrats to all Nole fans! So he looks like a good bet for year end #1 as long as he does well in Paris and still has something left for the master's cup.

So now it is all indoors till the end of the year.  I think the draw for the Swiss Indoors in Basel happens tomorrow.  Federer and Murray are the top players scheduled there.

Anyway, good to be back home!

Respectfully,
masterclass

Good to see you too MC. Glad you enjoyed your trip.

Yeah I know how it is without internet. Not bad, but still it makes life easier with it  :)

I like post slams 'cool-down' . No top guns never ending discussions hehe  :)~

Yes.  The "Cool-down" is good for a break for all I think.

I wonder if they ever caught the guy that made the death threat against Federer at Shanghai?
Had to be pretty scary for him. Security at tennis matches usually isn't so good.
Wasn't it only 2-3 years ago some nut jumped onto the court at Roland Garros and reached Federer and tried to put some kind of hat on him or something?  I don't think they learned too much from the Seles incident.

I think Del Potro is also slated to be at Basel.  It will be interesting to see who plays at Paris-Bercy considering the scheduling of the master's cup on top of it.

Respectfully,
masterclass

Blake: There are dopers in tennisPRINT THIS PAGEJames Blake tells USA Today that he believes there are tennis players who are doping.

“In tennis I’m sure there are guys who are doing it, getting away with it, and getting ahead of the testers,” Blake said. “But I also am realistic with this much money involved, $1.9 million for the winner of the U.S. Open, people will try to find a way to get ahead.”

The newspaper noted that only 37 cases performance enhancing drug (PED) use have been reported in the past 10 years (including wheelchair athletes).

“To think there is no doping is tennis is naïve,” said the ITF’s Stuart Miller. “At the other end of the spectrum, is it reasonable to assume that doping is endemic within tennis? We have no evidence.”

USA Today reported that the ITF’s anti-doping budget is about $1.6 million. From 2008-2011, the ITF conducted roughly 2,000 drug tests annually, both in and out of competition. In 2011, there were only 21 were out-of-competition blood tests.

Major League Baseball is said to conduct more than 15,000 tests per year.

“If we had more resources then we’d like to do more,” says Miller.

Former WADA chairman Dick Pound has said that athletes who are doping are becoming harder to catch because some use a “micro-dosage program” where they can get a PED out of their system in six-to-eight hours, so even if they are tested daily, they still have a chance of avoiding detection.

ITF president Francesco Ricci Bitti said that tennis’ anti-doping program is one of the “leaders” in pro sports.
