It's interesting and refreshing to hear Stan Wawrinka's mindset before this match. I like it. Realistic, but hopeful, confident.

Q. You have a great challenge to meet Tuesday. What can you say about Novak Djokovic?

A. "Novak is Novak. He is almost unplayable on hard. He has proven it yet again this year, conceding only three defeats (six tournaments played) on this surface. This is obviously very complicated, but it will be a great challenge. "

Q. Novak had been a wonderful year 2011, with ten titles won and three Grand Slams, while he won "only" three tournaments in 2012. Is he therefore not invincible?

A. "Roger (Federer) can say that this year. And Rafa (Nadal) also. But not the other players who feel the same as last year. "

Q. What do you do to beat him?

A. "Playing my best tennis. The problem is that I will have no influence on what he does. He returns everything, you put a lot of pressure and he still plays a shot more than any other defender. But I know that I have the game for me to win against anyone. "

Q. How should one approach such a meeting on a mental level?

A. "One must start by believing in one's chances. I know I have the qualities to win against the best. Many players do not even think to beat them. It is normal bowing to them as they are strong. Prolly not going to happen, but I'm glad that Stani is thinking this way.

With a bit of confidence and consistency, he can beat anybody.

Right.  A player has to THINK he can beat someone, otherwise, he might as well not even play the match.  Stan has to be positive about his chances otherwise he's already down 0-3 to start the match.  He still might lose, but I hope he goes out there and give his all in the match!

good thinking but not happening........dp will show how to do it provided he has no fitness issues, no forehand issues and no service issues.......

I saw this article on MTF already. good attitude but it's not happening. I wish he had this sort of attitude playing against his owner Federer too  ..-).

good attitude.
 
the problem is that you either have to be bullet proof off the ground or you need a game like fed has to beat nole.
 
wawa does not have a bullet proof ground game.
 
and he cant serve as big as fed can. he also cant crowd the net like fed. substandard testicular fortitude is also a problem that gets in his way.
 
translation: it will be a straight set demolition.

That statement was made base on Nole having his shoelaces of both shoes tied together.  But I guess the official did not allow that and Nole refuse to do that; so Stan was not too happy and had to break  a few rackets. :rofl_2:

What was Stan thinking??  I expected him to say something like "I have no shot.  I don't know if I will even show up.  I just hope that if I do show, I get out of the match uninjured." 

WHAT THE HELL DO YOU EXPECT HIM TO SAY???
