Final set Tie-breakers or Not
« on: September 05, 2012, 12:23:46 AM »
I remember there was a time that I thought 5 hour matches were awesome! And playing out the final set was amazing!!! 21-17!! That's amazing!!!

OVER IT!! :thumb-down:

Thank you US Open, where they can finish 5 sets in 3 and a half hours and 19-17 is a truly amazing TB score.

They should play tiebreakers if it gets to 12-12 (double set max). Otherwise, play it out.

That's a yes   :rofl_2:

Let 'em play it out.
Old school.
It's not about the fans.

Sort of like a shoot out in hockey or football, anti-climatic for me.

4:30, 12 games is enough.

Get off the court and live to play another day!

The way the tour is going and the physicality of today's game, players are going to call for final set tie-breakers if they aren't already.

It's coming people.

Once Nole and Rafa take the players rep reins from Roger there will be changes.

So yous guys prefer the shootout finish over traditional game play in the name of conservation of energy for the next match?

Sounds like a watering down of the field so weaklings can triumph.

Why not let 'em just play 2 out of 3 sets with TB's and really shorten it up then?

Nay, I shall not venture into that gray area!
Play it out.

Well both Nole and Rafa use to be on the council and BOTH quite! Yet Roger was re-elected as president. The way things are going, Roger still might be playing and on the council after Nole and Rafa have both retired! Lol

I'm sayings 4 hours is enough. Are we really getting shorted drama because a match is *only* 4 hours and these guys had 12 games to settle the score already?

These guys play passive tennis which makes it more physical. Physical wussies they are not. They're never going to change. Get them off the court!!

My point being, if you can't finish a match, you don't deserve to win in some shortened TB format and live to fight another day with more gas in the tank.

Babs good thread btw. but get something like Nole/Rafa or Nole/Murray and we can watch 12 hours of wonderful tennis  :)). maybe it's not a bad idea. I'd rather have a cup of coffee with Emma so she can gossip about her girlfriends, what they wear, how stupid they bf are etc  :innocent:
