Thanks, herc. Really adore that picture of Audrey. And RG in the background really makes it worthwhile for the time being.

I saw Pete once, it was the 1996 Marboro Open in Hong Kong.   How time flies ..........
A young Pete at that!
What do you remember most about that match?

not much, too exciting to get to see him.  He was very handsome but he was as usual, not very warm to his fans, only managed to sign 2 autographs and of course i was not the lucky ohe

Both he and his mentor Llendl never really warmed to the celebrity aspect of the sport.  I give them both the benefit of the doubt in saying they were so focused on their tennis that they failed to recognize the fans are part & parcel of the pro tour.

good point MT.

now stop hiding at the wrong thread.

are you a man or a damn mouse.

go over to the castle and meet and mingle. we have a lot of new and wonderful folks there.

go there and say hello to them at least.

there is no future in trying so damned hard to be anti social.

Certainly not hiding and I'm a tad to large to be a mouse. :rofl_2:

Castle is fine for you folks to socialize, a little too much fluff and non-tennis talk for my liking though.

I'll spend what time I have focusing on talking tennis in the tennis threads.  If some find that 'anti-social' so be it.

The dozen folks I smoked ribs & brisket for yesterday didn't find me 'anti-social' while enjoying frostys and frozen margaritas afterwards. :))

And of course you know, I believe people make their own 'luck'. :)

nobody can talk 100% tennis 100% of the time.

that is not what is making these tennis forums tick and click.

vast majority of the growth and chat activity at--say a place like mtf--is not coming their tennis discussion page.

it comes from their various chat sub forums.

now I think we are  lucky in that we have a fair amount of activity going on here at our tennis discussion place at the moment. and we are showing some growth at the chat section

but we all know how dead our tennis discussion page has been for a long time.

times have changed. nobody is interested in 100% tennis talk 100% of the time.

at the current rate, our chat section may be able to show the most growth.

the castle thread alone has the potential to be the largest thread at tennis4you in about 2 years time. it is the fastest growing one at the moment.

It would be good though if there were more match threads. Easier that way to discuss individual matches.

i could not agree more general connor.

well we will just have to make do in the mean time.

we will just have to discuss some of this at the castle.

and of course there is the tennis discussion page.

the thing about the chat thread like the castle is that one simply has more options in a relaxed sort of way. one can talk tennis while being entertained with music and all sorts of other things.

the way conversations would normally take place---like in a sports bar for instance--- as opposed to highly confined type of discussions.

I agree with this idea. Tennis Discussions can sometimes also get derailed by Alex's personal babbling  :)~

Me, you, and Freak3yman84 can work on the match thread and see if more people join in. hopefully it will help the forum expand.

I agree, but a revival of match threads sometime in the future should be a priority.

agreed. revival of match threads should be top priority.

we are dealing with 2 massive slams back to back.

those match threads do need to be locked.

Like I said, you folks are entitled to enjoy your chats.
I'll enjoy the tennis talk.
The 2 are not mutually exclusive.

Fast growth does not necessarily equate to 'best quality' or 'success'.
Just fast growth.

Have fun. :)

Great idea on reviving the match threads section.
That way we can expand our discussions involving tennis even more.

I definitely agree, and if you guys need help with it lemme now, I will also contribute because it has a potential to talk about other players besides 'top dogs'.

On a side note... Guys try not to fight, you have known each other for a long time.
This is only internet forum after all and everyone will do what one enjoys doing. Be it talking only about tennis or the other way around, that's not the reason to start fights.

I prefer talking about tennis, but I also like chatting when there's no tennis action.
What I can't stand is trolling around. I find it to be completely waste of time.
