Bautista Agut has had an excellent run here.  I'm expecting Tipsarevic to clinch it but let's see.

I hope Paire / Wawrinka can win the doubles final.

Final kinda similar to the Janko's SF match. Slow start but never in doubt.

I walked past the big screen at the tennis club today and saw Tipsy vs Agut.  I stopped and did a double take.  WHO?  Am I that far outta touch with the ATP?  Geesh.  I know I don't have Tennis Channel at home so I don't get to see a lot of tenis but really??
I was at this casino minding my own business, and this guy came up to me and said, "You're gonna have to move, you're blocking a fire exit." As though if there was a fire, I wasn't gonna run. If you're flammible and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit.  - Mitch Hedberg

There are three names that have popped up since the post-USO (aka the "offseason").
Jerzy Janowicz
Martin Klizan
Roberto Bautista Agut

Your guess is as good as mine.

I saw Matosevic play in the qually in Cincy last summer and I have seen Klizan play and heard of Janowicz.  Yesterday was a first for Agut.

I never heard of Janowicz before he made that run in Paris(?).
Klizan, Agut...nope. Can't say that I've heard of them.
Matosevic...I don't watch qualifying rounds, so I've never heard of him, either.

Matsosevic has been around a while. I saw him play some creditable matches at the LM in Washington in 2011.

He is currently the top ranked Australian (!) at number 47. Tomic ought to be able to pass him soon if he gets his act together .  :uhm:

I notice they are playing each other in Sydney in several hours time.

One thing in Matsevic's favor right now is that he doesn't mind the heat.  :PHEW:)

Bautista Agut vs Berdych is the match of the tournament in my opinion. Amritraj was interesting, Indian players have so much swagger for not having any titles or credibility  :zipped:  :lmao:  :rofl_2:

Bautista Agut / Berdych was a good match I agree.

As for swagger - Lol!

Your comment about achievement is probably aimed at the singles tour. There are some excellent Indian doubles players. Leander Paes, for example, has won multiple grand slam titles for doubles & mixed doubles. For any player to do well on the circuit is a credible achievement in my view.   :)

of course I'm totally ignoring doubles but even Bhupathi/Paes are pretty cocky. So much so that they can't stand each other. How many fights has Paes started in his career?  ;-()

No one can touch Serena Williams in terms of attitude, the men's game is mostly subdued in that comparison.

Well, we know what happens when Queen Serena is angered.. She wreaks havoc.. Opponents are left beaten & bruised mentally and physically, let alone on the scoreboard.. Murder on a tennis court.. That is what it looks like when you get Serena riled up..  :gleam:

I watched Matosevic play against Cilic USO 2012 I believe. He two a two set lead but went down in 5. Similar to Cilic I'd say, but more firm, not as rangy and not as versatile with his movement. I believe similar physical stats as well.
