I know berasategui, name too difficult to spell.  It was around that time (1995) when I first started to follow tennis

Mimi and generalito; check this out, it's an old vid but still pretty okay quality for that time.
here he is playing against another great Bruguera in the final of RG 1994.

Berasategui (you spelled it good) was great on clay, and had a funky forehand.

his forehand was also very difficult to spell.

nobody on the planet could hit a forehand like the one he had. it would have broken some people`s wrist mimi.

ask generalito about it. the man could kill you just with his topspin forehand.

and i hear he was not that big either.

first 2 look like alberto berastagui. not sure about the other 2.

by the way you were 100% correct. all 3 were rusty.

you were right about the first two. berasategui was an awesome player generalito.

second pictures is the same player, I give you a hint. on that picture where he is holding the trophy is a Masters Crown. In Rome that is. he won that crown over a future #1 and multiple slam winner.

he also suffered from skin cancer.

that cant be felix but i guess it is generalito. felix mantilla. damn my memory is not as sharp as it should be.

is that him?

affirmative generalito.

first 2 pictures is alberto berasategui and last 2 pictures is felix mantilla. damn spain had so many great warriors in the past.
not all slam winners but damn they were tough and giving other players hell.

bonus question; who did felix beat in that 2003 rome ms final?

not sure now to be honest with you. did he beat king carlos ferrero?

i was looking at the list of past champions but this list does not show who who were the other finalists. it shows only the winners.

i was looking at this. that nastase must have had mad skillz generalito. he could do it all. he won both singles and doubles in 1970. he won the doubles with tiriac of all the people.

nastase/tiriac team won the italian open doubles title again in 1972.

i hear he liked to party big time in his day. so no telling what he could have achieved if he had the work ethic of somebody like muster.

he did win that final against nobody other than Roger Federer generalito. it was Roger's first MS final and felix downed him pretty comfertably. Fed was 21 at that point and his best results were on Clay in that period.

Tiriac and Nastase are 2 bad boys to the bone. they liked to party, pick up women but were also awesome tennis players.

ilie nastase is still a huge icon for romania all over the globe.

thanks for the video, Javier.  Not much tennis coverage at that time so I missed it.   I think they moved quite fast!

I am going to meet my tennis mates for a dinner gathering this weekend, to mark the 11th anniversary of knowing each other, how time flies!  11 years had passed but my tennis is still so bad  :rofl_2: :rofl_2:

I like Sabrina, Gone with the wind, Casablanca too.  In my eyes, Ingrid Bergman in Casablanca was the most beautiful woman who I had ever watched in screen.  She got flaws such as face a bit too big and nose not that perfect, but overall, her face was just unforgetable.

Rafa?  I hope so  :)~

Dito for Sabrina and "frankly my dear I don't give a damn"  :)>>>>

Not sure about Ingrid, very sweet of course but not sweeter than Audrey  ://      Surprise you didn't mention west side story.     Nothing newer as in 1980s and forward?

You guessed it right. Painful times we are enduring........rooting for DELPO and Andy in this tournament. :confused1:

 :mad1:

no biggie, I will forgive you this time.    JK!      I was told I was a man so I believe; I must confess AH makes me dream, perhaps that's why I love Roman Holiday despite being a "chick" flick. I also love Pulp Fiction if that has any redeeming value  :)~

are you a girl mimi?
