Nadal's Doctor Gives Him Green Light

The Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal is "in the final stretch" of his knee injury and therefore his return to the circuit will take place next month in Brazil, "as planned," said the head of medical services of the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation, Angel Ruiz-Cotorro.

Nadal has used these days is training in Barcelona on Wednesday successfully pass a medical examination at the Clinic Mapfre Medical Tennis.

Under the supervision of Dr. Ruiz-Cotorro, he had an ultrasound to check the clinical course of the patellar tendon in his left knee that he had stopped the last half year.

The world ex number 1 was due to return to competition in late December in Abu Dhabi tournament, but a stomach virus forced him to rest and delayed his comeback.

After verifying that Nadal's knee is in good condition to return to competition, the doctors and the player's technical team have established a specific program of preparation to finalize details with a view to their return to the circuit at the Brazil Open, which takes place from February 11 to coincide with the start of the South American tour ground.

"Tests confirm that the recovery of Rafa improving. Medically we are in the final stages and the results have been very satisfactory. Return to the circuit is expected as planned" has ruled Dr. Ruiz-Cotorro.
