Finally, Djokovic takes a break point & wins 12-10.

Superb effort by both men, but ND didn't play his best here.  What is ominous for his opponents is that he doesn't need to in order to win!

Excellent effort by SW.  He really gave it his all.  What a match!

Congratulations to all Djokovic fans.  :)

Agreed. A great one!  Nights like that are the best of the AO.

....and only a ten minute walk back to the downtown hotel,   :ZZZZZ)

Now, here at 10am,  I can at last  get to the Sunday papers.  :coffee:

Wawrinka should have won it if he decided challenge when he hit big forehand return 4-4 30-40. Djokovic is so lucky.  ://

Stanley what was that  :depressed:

Well gratz Alex and the rest of Nole's fans.

But this match just proves even as his countryman why I don't cheer for him.
I'm gutted for Stan.

One sensational game over a 45 minute span is pretty awful. No match is good after, or should go more than, 4 hours. Desperately need a 5th set TB. The slow courts of the AO combined with the defensive nature of today's players will certainly bring us a TB. These things are ridiculous.

The crowd loved it and Novak certainly knew how to charm them all in the Courier interview.

All in all, a very good night for tennis and for tennis in Australia in particular.

I agree.  A 5th set TB NEEDS TO BE ADOPTED
I was at this casino minding my own business, and this guy came up to me and said, "You're gonna have to move, you're blocking a fire exit." As though if there was a fire, I wasn't gonna run. If you're flammible and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit.  - Mitch Hedberg

Got to disagree on 5th set TB being added,it makes it fun to win by 2 games. If you can't win without to 6-6 in last set that's the tennis players problem full stop.I'd say the same no matter what tennis player was playing(& yes same for Andy)before someone ask's.Tennis players make loads of money sometimes thay have to earn it.

I suppose that Jamesdster's point of view is to some extent that from the high chair  ..-)  and must be duly respected  :worthy: .

As a spectator, I do not like tie-breaks at all  :mad1: . especially in best of 3 matches. Too much hangs on small number statistics.

The spectators love it, but how about the players? Don't they want to end these humdingers and catch a shower? What about best-of-3 sets in the Slams? In this age of equality at the workplace, should not the men be expected to do nothing more than the women, in order to win the top prize? I think a vast majority of men will agree.. We could have a real circus on our hands, what with the strength in depth on the men's tour..  ;-()
