Yes general, I've seen this stat before. Nadal, for his immense domination on clay is not yet top-10 for Open Era match wins. Vilas 627, Orantes 454 and then Muster 422 tops the list. Difficult to get really high here unless you play clay on every opportunity and drop HC events.

impressive number of clay court wins for those guys general markus.

clay is not an easy surface to win on. you have to fight for all the points.

also i agree. nobody is ever going to equal number like the one vilas supports. 627 match wins on clay is insane.

the game has become too demanding so that is another reason.

80% of the tour is hard courts. so like you said, only way to win more clay court matches is to let go of some of those hard court events.
