Metal Music Thread Vol #1
« on: January 24, 2013, 06:41:39 PM »
This is an exclusive thread for NWOBHM, thrash, gothic, symphonic, operatic & death metal music. We can start by discussing the big 4 - Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer & Anthrax. I own several albums by Metallica and 1 Megadeth but not the other 2. I'll be looking into them.

This might be the best metal track I've ever heard:

Metallica - To Live Is To Die (Studio Version)

The middle acoustic section that begins at 5:00 is so emotional.

As long as they're selling records and selling out concerts, who cares what the magazines say?

their story is one of the most compelling stories i have ever seen in the music world.

they came from such humble beginnings. i also think their talent was out of this world.

only one other story comes to mind: shania twain
now her story simply cannot be topped.

It's amazing how many genres of metal there are now. Originally it was just "heavy metal". Now beyond the original trash, there's gothic, symphonic, death, operatic. There are like 200 metal bands out there.

They're much better than Metallica.... Better songwriting, Mustaine has more talent in his pinky finger  than all those lamers in metallica..... 80's metallica=stolen Mustaine riffs anyway....
And the Marty Friedman era of Megadeth is amazing, with all those exotic solos, Metallica got stuck forever with blues and pentatonic scales, Hammett=bad technique hidden under wah-wah effect, no creativity,

Anyway, some Australian black metal......
