I fully understand that Nadal wants to get some match practice on clay, and it is a sensible way back in to the game. But I can't help feeling sorry for this field. For most here these less important tournaments are the only realistic chance of winning a title, and this looks unlikely with Nadal here.

I don't feel sorry for the field,nothing for sure on how Nadal plays yet.One thing i do know,lot's will want to see him play wether he's good or bad.

World No. 920 Christian Garin scored his first ATP World Tour win on Tuesday, beating Serbian qualifier Dusan Lajovic 6-3, 6-4 at the VTR Open in Vina del Mar. The Chilean 16 year old, on his tour-level debut, saved the only two break points he faced during the 84-minute match.

Santiago-born Garin, who practised with World No. 5 Rafael Nadal on Friday, is the fifth player aged 16-under to win an ATP World Tour match since 2000, following in the footsteps of Bernard Tomic, Richard Gasquet, Ryan Harrison and Nadal. He goes onto face French third seed Jeremy Chardy, who had a first-round bye..............

I've managed to catch the second set of Nadal's match. Firstly, congratulations to him for being back in competition.

He is playing someone I've never heard of & is serving for the match at 5-2 having won the first set 6-3.

Edit : he won 6-3,6-2. He looks fine, but had little contest.

Congrats to Rafa. I didn't see the match. Regardless who he played, it's hard to play a first match after being absent for so long. I anyone did see it, I'd like to hear more details.
