As expected, Nadal sailing through. I watched the first set against Jimeno-Traver, and the 6-1 score reflects Nadal relaxed & comfortable demeanour. He is moving & hitting well. Good win for him, 6-4, to advance, where he'll face Chardy in the SF. Given Chardy's "performance" against Murray at the AO, I'm expecting another straight set win for Nadal, to get to the final.
In fact, neither of the remaining men, Zeballos ( who is unseeded, and although he has played well to get to the SF, is unlikely to face up to Nadal if he gets to the final) or Berlocq ought to pose a threat to Nadal either & he should be the title winner here. He & Monaco are through to the doubles final too.

no tennis channel in Canada. I'm stuck with some lousy live stream $:\$ . I still don't understand why Nadal is playing doubles.

Sorry to be pedantic, Oracle86, but it will be perfect when he's won them both. For now, I'd say it was merely an excellent start!!

Chardy can play well as he showed at the Ao recently, and to beat him 6-2,6-2 in the SF was a good result.
I expect a straight sets win over Zebalos too.

Had Nadal won the 2nd TB then I believe it would have been only his second ATP match ever where he didn't break his opponents serve even once. Can still be, of course. No long decider here.

Zeballos! What a serve. He took the 9th game to love in the final set, and Nadal serving at 4-5.

Mixed in incredible dropshots with big shotmaking and serving.

Interesting fact:
Rafa has won 36 tour finals on clay
Zaballos had won 21 tour level MATCHES on clay prior to today!

It was a good start for Nadal & it's nice to see him back playing.Saw no problems with his knee's,this will help him get fitter & look forward to him playing next week.Congrats to Zaballos,if your gonna beat Nadal on clay,now is the time & he did it.

The expressions on their faces are priceless. Rafa looks furious at himself/doubting himself/stunned/in disbelief. Zaballos eyes are red and glossy from crying.
