Kate Hepburn's Best Actress wins:

Morning Glory - 1934
Guess Who's Coming to Dinner - 1968
The Lion in Winter - 1969  (tied and shared award with Barbra Streisand - Funny Girl)
On Golden Pond - 1982

She did a bang up job in the African Queen with Humphrey Bogart in 1952, but lost out to an amazing performance by Vivien Leigh in Streetcar Named Desire

I also liked her a lot in the screwball comedy Bringing up Baby - 1938 with Cary Grant.  See that movie if you want to have a lot of laughs.

only movie i ever saw her in was john wayne`s "True Grit".

john wayne followed it up with a sequal: "rooster cogburn" if i am not mistaken. i believe john wayne finally collected an oscar for his performance in that movie.

anyway she was a splendid actress.

About Harrison:  All good points general Herc.
I think he needs a couple of break-through matches against top opponents to give him more confidence.  Self-belief is key at this level.
We will see what he has when he is 24 or 25.

Llodra snatched the first set against Tsonga in a tiebreaker, 7-3.  Tsonga has to be a bit tired. Can he pull it out?

i like berankis but he too is plagued by the similar issues. short and lack of experience.

here are the 3 guys who i think will make dramatic improvements in their singles status in the coming years:

1. jerzey janowics
2. dynamitrov
3. sizzling sijsling

watch out for these 3. its only  a matter of time. sizzling sijsling enjoys some great advantages already. he is masterful going forward and he is fearless. he is also calm and composed. so nothing shakes him. all his energies are focused on the match in front of him.

all 3 are tall.

who are your rising stars?

agree with Janowicz and Dynamitrov, but Sijsling is already 25 (26 in august). He is not gonna reach the top 15 in my opinion.

I think Tomic eventually will be a major star. Raonic also going to break in the top 10.

Well, whatever Harrison is doing, he has to change something.  He just lost in 3 sets to #154 in the world Daniel Munoz-de la Nava. :(

i thought he had that under control after snatching the 2nd set 6-1.

this is not good for ryan harrison and his camp.

that nick bollitieri academy has outlived its use. the game has changed now.
also they got lucky with agassi and courier. how often do players likse those 2 come around.

so that is another factor that we might have to consider. even those clowns at the nick`s academy finally had to install some clay courts there.

Janowicz is the first young player I've seen in a while that I think capable of cracking into the top 10 and perhaps the top 5.  He has all the shots and good movement for a guy 6'8".  A bigger serve than Del Potro, maybe as big as Isner and Raonic, and a big forehand. Drop shots like a demon, maybe too much, lobs.  Backhand needs to be stronger, especially down the line. He seems to have a fairly strong mentality, but will it be consistent enough?  Also, the only thing against the big, big guys is trouble staying healthy.   I think Tomic is a bit overrated, but maybe he'll develop.  Dimitrov, hmm, he has shown flashes, but he can't seem to break through against the top guys.  Sisjling is good on hard indoors, and faster surfaces.  I don't think he'll produce on the slower surfaces that exist everywhere now, and he is in his prime years already.

I think we have to wait about 3 or 4 more years and see if anyone else rises.  I don't see many other possibilities at the moment.

Great analysis my friends!
I'm watching (suffering) my good friend Tsonga, who's losing 6-7 5*-2.

God damnit, Jo, after an amazing tournament victory over Berdych we got THIS?!

Just read it and answered it  :gleam:

I don't know about Jo... He was a break up in the 1st set, and I didn't see him tired, he was firing up some big forehands...
He needs to focus a lot more, his game could be amazing in any surface, he showed that by beating Delpo and Wawrinka in Rome and Roland Garros, he also had 3 MP vs Nole in that match.

He needs to focus, damnit, his game is so amazing and he can outplay anyone in a good day

Wooooooo! AMAZING STUFF, General.
A perfect mix, loved it. I will use it proudly.
I choose the 3rd one because that effect is really amazing.

Today we have cool action in Acapulco, I hope for a good stream, it'd be amazing.

i have to agree with you guys. there is simply massive upside with milos, jerzey, and dynamitrov.

that, however, does not mean they can win slams. that is a different league sports fans.

i thought you might like the 3rd one. that one was my favorite too general.

you will also note that this one is more clear than the first one.

and in reality, it is not much bigger than the last one. that is the most amazing thing. it only looks massive.

it looks massive because it is menacing and intimidating when lined up against ordinary sigs.

this is the new breed of monster sigs that are available only at tennis4you. :)) :))

Don't see much with Dimitrov, he seems more like a Gilles Simon type player.

Jerzy and Gulbis look good for me.

Federer

Del Potro

Gulbis

Janowicz

even though nadal is playing a qualifier i still expect him to struggle a little bit today.

lots of heavyweights in action in acapulco today. i am not sure if we will get any streams so early.
