Del Po is in NO way a pusher. And Nadal has been playing much more aggressively since he's come back. This is going to be a great match! I think I'm pretty much the only one on here cheering for Rafa :P

Rafa is the FIRST to qualify for WTF this year! :D

Go DelPo! If Rafa wins then so be it.

The announcers  and the tennis panel discussing Nadal say Rafa will win and have been saying that he's better than ever.

He's definitely come out really hot so far. Hustling extremely well and simply blasting his forehands.

DelPo starts out slow. Today the pushing didn't work, he needs to bring the heat.

Just caught the last game of the first set! Wow!  Well done Del Potro!  That's the spirit! Excellent focus to hold & take the first set. Nadal is going to fight - nothing less is expected from him.  So this next set should be fun!   :)

Edit : - And D-P breaks Nadal, and serving.   This is incredible.

And as he often does, Nadal fights back and now they're back on serve. Del Po really getting rattled now, and if he doesn't settle down, Rafa very well might take full advantage and run away with it.

Nadal really dominated that game. Interesting to see if he can break Del Po again.

And Rafa breaks and will now serve for the second set!!! If he holds, you gotta think he's got the edge in the third. Not only does he naturally have more stamina than Del Po, but he also has had it much easier in his last two matches than Del Po.

He was mad about the chair not telling him how far the ball was out on a serve, how silly.

To the third set!!!  :gleam:

We certainly have a match.  Delpo I am sure is happy this will not be best of 5!  He is probably feeling it now at the start of the 3rd!
Good Luck on the Court!!!

I thought the announcers started a bit early with saying that Nadal was at 100% and saying he was better than ever. But now...I must agree with them. People better look out. He is playing at the top of his game. He did this after he came off of injury in 2009, and it looks like he might do it again.

Rafa is the FIRST to qualify for WTF this year! :D

Good points,Raa816.  Nadal has the momentum now, having broken D-P, and looks much the fresher of the two.  D-P under pressure, big time!
What a match!

AND HE WINS! That's truly amazing. His first Master's tournament after 7 months off, it's on hard court, and he wins it. His first Master's tournament back, his first hard court title since 2010, and the record for most Master's titles all in one win.

Rafa is the FIRST to qualify for WTF this year! :D

That was a good match, in the third DelPo lost most of his power and slowed down.
Nadal was as good in the third as the first set.

First HC title for Nadal since October 2010.

I still think DelPo's arguing with the chair took away his focus, he's done that before.
Silly to think about that, you have to move on.

Nadal's back and the announcers were right about Nadal's level but he can get a little bit better with his forehand consistency.

DelPo has to be more fit, what would happen in a slam if he plays a few 4/5 setters?

Well said, Swish.  Sorry your man couldn't do it, but it was a big ask, after his two previous matches, to have the stamina to go to the hilt against Nadal.  Had it been any one else, he might have managed it. He has had a great tournament here, and should be proud of that.

Nadal knew that D-P couldn't keep up the momentum for long & made full use of his chances when errors crept into the D-P game.  After winning the second set, he put D-P under siege & it was clearly all D-P could do to hold serve.

What a comeback in this match and to the tour!  Congratulations to him for doing it with style, the last man standing in a field which included the top hard court specialists in the world!     :rofl_2:
In that, there is no doubt a lesson!

DelPo should not feel too bad, it was very difficult to play Murray and Djokovic with something left in the tank.
Both those players can take a lot out of you, not just physically but mentally especially after being down a set to both of them.
Then to take on a very fresh Nadal is a big ask.

Good for Nadal though as he is back without a doubt.

Now we have some interesting matchups to look at:
Nadal is back
Djokovic is still Djokovic
Murray will only get better, he was a little off in that DelPo match
Gulbis is blowing his horn.

Then there's DelPo, who damn well better work on his fitness or I'll send him a nasty email about it.  :)>>>>
Isner can have his day
Dimitrov and Tomic seem to be working hard
Raonic and Isner can be very dangerous at times
Jerzy is still trying to figure out how many times he'll get a bad call.  :rofl_2:
