Sloppy! Nole folds at the end of the 1st set.

Dimitrov takes the TB.

I have to admit that Dimitrov's "strokes" remind me a little of Roger, but Roger would never be as 'dirty' (clothes wise)...as Dimitrov is :rofl_2:  He's taken what ....3 falls on the clay already?

I was almost to forget Madrid is a joint 1000-pointer. But then checked WTA results. Lisicki got to R16. :thumbs-up: She beat Sharapova at Wimbledon and troubled at Olympics. Hopefully she can beat Sharapova now in R16 even though this ain't grass.

Is anyone watching Dimitrov and Djokovic? Dimitrov was two points from victory a few times, 7-6 6-7 score stands and he's broken Djokovic first game of the third set.

Quite amazing match. Djokovic had ankle problems and a medical timeout in the 2nd, but Dimitrov looked to be cramping. I thought for sure he was done when he lost the 2nd set TB. Not so. He just held to 4-2. Can he pull it off? Or will it be another Djokovic miracle rescue?

Good win for Dimitrov, only saw the last set but Djokovic looked out of energy.
Rest up Djoko.

So Novak out.  Oh well...

Dimitrov will still have to get in better shape.  He got lucky today but he won't survive playing best-of-five at majors with the shape he's in now.  If he's cramping now...what's he going to do at the French?

But good win for him today. (not watch him lose next round) :rofl_2:

I do see the  comparison between his game and Roger's game (stroke wise)...but again, Dimitrov will have to get in better physical condition.  He's still young.  Novak showed that he could do it, so I guess it's not out of the question for Dimitrov.

So...does this open the door for Murray since he's on Novak's side of the draw?  I wasn't that impressed with Murray's match today.  Seems like he was acting like he was hurting after this shot, or that shot...then the next shot he's ok....then later he's hurting again.  I don't understand him.  But...he did win, so a win is a win!!!!

Congrats to Dimitrov. Nole was just too flat, not sure what the heck he was doing there. However, great win for Grisha. I'm  cheering for the young Bulgarian. if he loses in the next round I'll 'shoot myself'  :)).

I believe Tsonga, Wawrinka, Dimitrov, and maybe also Berdych can beat Andy before the final on clay.

I've seen a couple of highlights but the only match I could watch live today was the Djokovic/Dimitrov one. Whilst this loss is not going to cause ND a sleepless night, the win meant a lot to GD, and I'm pleased for him.
Mayer gave Murray a good match, and getting through will no doubt hold AM in good stead looking forward.
Federer took a few attempts to close out the match against Stepanek, who was disappointing today, and not up to his usual eccentric play.
I was sorry to see that Gasquet & Raonic went out, but pleased to note that Haas & Wawrinka are through.

Todays results:

Murray   d    Mayer           76(11) 76(3)
Federer   d   Stepanek   63 63
Dimitrov   d   Djokovic   76(6) 67(8) 63
Andujar   d   Isner           64 64
Monaco   d   Tipsarevic   76(5) 63
Verdasco   d   Raonic           64 26 76(7)
Robredo   d   Baghdatis   64 62
Gimeno-Traver   d  Gasquet   75 36 64
Youzhny   d Fognini   76(4) 26 76(5)
Haas   d  Seppi   61 62
Giraldo   d Klizan   62 64
Wawrinka   d Copil   64 64   Match
Simon   d   Chardy   64 76(5)
Troicki   d  Granollers   75 46 62
Paire     d   Souza   61 76(0)

Great match, especially for Grigor. Nole was too 'flat' and looked 'uninterested' at times.

Hopefully Dimitrov can keep it up, such a talent.

Anyone else find it crazy that Nadal is FINALLY playing on Wednesday. Seems ridiculously late. And great win for Dimitrov. I wouldn't be surprised if he breaks into the top 10 by the end of the year.

Rafa is the FIRST to qualify for WTF this year! :D

He needs to work on his problems with cramping.....  He has the shots, but best of five will be a killer for him, I think.

Yeah. Fitness and also just more stability. I like that he's flashy but he's a little too all over the place to see him really 'settling' in the top tier. Not sure if what I am saying is just what I feel when I watch him play. He's slipping and falling and all over the place, of course he's also young, but not sure I yet see the solid consistency shot to shot, game to game, match to match, that I see in the current top 8.

But progress for sure. Novak might not have been at his best but not many would have capitalized. Also I am sure Novak didn't just take it easy as their last encounter was fairly tight at least in the first set.

Maybe it's time Dimitrov wore a shirt saying "The King is dead, Long live the new King"

Saw this from Djokovic:

Quote
“For 12 days after Monte Carlo, I haven’t touched the racquet… I didn’t prepare myself so well,” he said. “But I’m not trying to find any excuses for the loss. I tried to do my best… All the credit also to Dimitrov, because he was the better player on the court. He was striking the ball really well, serving great, changing the pace and he deserved to win.”

This about matches what I saw in the third set.
Dimitrov did nothing great, just a solid game.
Still not showing any great potential but also has time.

Nole was acting like it was slippery blue clay out there today. I caught the first set only and thought he looked like he had taken a month off. Just a bad day at the office for Nole.

I only saw the third set and yes, Nole did look poor, easy misses and not really pushing himself.

Still a good game by Dimi but nothing to deserve the high praise he's getting all over the tennis boards.

I still don't see great potential from him but when did that ever matter.  :rofl_2:
