Sid,
I had much more time to follow younger players at the time. There was a German site that used to show challengers, futures etc. Somehow, I got attached to both young Novak and Andy. Sure, when I think about it,  the only reason why I prefer Nole more because he was so goofy. Murray is very intelligent.

I'm looking for a new young incoming star. just can't find anyone I really like. Players like Tomic, Janowitc, Harrison drive me crazy because of their attitude, thinking they are big shots etc. just boring me to death.

Raonic has a nice personality but I'm not a big fan of his game. I guess I don't know what I want anymore  :))

:) Nice little upset for Bautista-Agut over Simon in Monte-Carlo. Bautista has really nice groundstrokes, he can be a rising star

I just heard of this guy a few months ago. Was he a Q or in the main draw? Simon was as SF last year.

He was MD. Ranked 59 atm.

Simon was SF last year, yes, and also he slaughtered the same Bautista earlier this season (on hard, mind you) so quite surprising this.

Harrison doesn't think he's a big shot, he just has a temper. But he's been trying to keep himself under control.

Rafa is the FIRST to qualify for WTF this year! :D

Yes (you are the only one).

Very few people at T4U follow tennis, they simply follow their heroes, who are ranked 1,2,3 or 4. If you don't start a thread with either (1) the names Federer, Djokovic, Nadal, or Murray in the title, or (2) leading questions that prompt discussion about those 4 players, then it doesn't exist. Some of us have tried for years to grow interest in other players but invariably, those threads get hijacked by fanboys of the Big 4 or die after 5 or 6 replies. By contrast, a new thread about Federer or Nadal that has already been created in one form or another at least 20 times can go on for weeks and pages.

And (for me) to come here and read that anyone at T4U not named Babblelot, monstertruck, or BGT finds this thread remotely interesting is not being honest because you are relatively new.

So, yes, you pretty much are alone, here. At least among the old guard.

Not one case in point, but 2 today!

Are you suggesting this sort of thing only happens once in a lifetime?

Actually, I was referring to the previous post. ..-)

I didn't see the match, so I'm not sure what happened.
At this point I'd consider it an upset.
Nadal appeared to be returning to form and Nole recently suffered an ankle sprain.
Seemed like a done deal to me.
That's why I don't 'predict' match outcomes. :))
I prefer to just watch and enjoy.
Perhaps most telling of all is the fact that these 2 classic stallers finished a match on clay in less than 2 hours.  Certainly that is a once in a lifetime accomplishment for both......

Once in a lifetime? More like water flowing underground. Like monster said...same as it ever was. And I say...same as it ever was.

GGL defeats Tipsy (1)  in Bucharest 6-3 3-6 6-4. Vamos!  Always a good day for tennis when Tipsy loses...I used to like him in the past when he was a good shotmaker. Now he is a grinder with an exceptionally ugly game.

Dimitrov def Djokovic 6-7(6) 7-6(8) 6-3. Grigor is quickly becoming one of my favorite players. This was an exciting match.

Potro got upset again. This time by Benoit Paire 6-4 7-6. Del Potro only hit 12 winners  :rofl_2: He's playing like a pusher lately.

A great day for upset bandwagonists.

I'd give Darcis a 7. Always an upset when a player of Nadal's calibre loses. But not as big an upset as loss to Rosol as his form on grass was a question mark.

I think it's as big upset as it was v Rosol,i'm shocked @ this result.

 :shakey: :toot: :Fool: :yahoo:

This is less of an upset than Rosol though, because this time we knew it was possible.

Wimbledon R64: [Q] Larcher de Brito def. [3] Sharapova 6-3, 6-4

I give it a 9. Yes, we saw last year Sharapova can go out early but Lisicki was known to be an excellent grasscourter. So a massive upset. But given that even the top players tend to have occasional upset losses, I don't quite give a 10, I give a 9.
