John played extremely well, again proving that his game is well suited for clay if not his body.

I couldn't watch the final, but well done to Isner. I hope this win will give him confidence looking forward, and his slump is overcome.
I'm not too surprised Almagro lost. He seems to play well & then often lacks finish. Still, getting to the final is a good effort.

Thought that's true about Nico, it didn't occur today. It also implies that John needed to wait for the match to come to him, rather than take the match, which he did. You can't take anything away the way John played today. His serve, ground strokes, ability to win long rallies, and net game were working for him today. He could have beaten most everyone playing that well.

Good win for John I. today.
He hasn't looked great lately so this one was really needed for his confidence.

You description of how he played sounded good, Babblelot, and I had to watch a bit as a result. Good stuff indeed.

BY FAR, the best he's played all year. Hopefully he continues to play this way.

Rafa is the FIRST to qualify for WTF this year! :D

Sure was nice to see John playing well against Nico on clay in a final.
Perhaps this will give him a nice little confidence boost.
CONK da ball!!!
