I was expecting Nieminen to win, and even easier than he actually did. But not Flo.

As I was not expecting Nole to be 0-4 down in the first set. Although now he managed to get a break back.

I cant see youzhny winning even if he was to snatch the first set.

nole`s ground game is too solid.

Gulbis tried but couldn't handle Monaco.  :coffee:

Great win for Nieminen! He is one of the best defense- offense transitioners on the tour, and a spectacular athlete for a 31 year old. In fact, if not for his incredibly weak 80 mph second serve, he may have been a grand slam contender.

Funky Flo  :)) It will be great to watch him vs Dimitrov  :))

Monaco is going to make Djokovic RUN in the 2nd round and tire him out, but he doesn't have the weapons to actually beat Nole. Too little too late from Youzhny. A few years ago he would have beaten Djokovic, as he made far fewer UEs.

Rafa had a laugh about it too, he enjoys gamesmanship.

Nole looked out of sorts early but got it together.
He hasn't had much time to practice like he wanted, one thing for sure though is he'll be fully rested.

I think Nole wants more than a good showing here.
Monaco is going to be blown off the court I think.

I'm so disappointed with Gulbis. just when I expect something big from him he f.ukcs up. It's been like that forever now. he is so talented, very intelligent guy btw, very funny, yet he just ... I don't know, doesn't take his career very seriously I guess. coming from a super rich family doesn't really help.

I think he just won something like 16/17 matches.  :toot:

Give the raging guy a break.

Monaco is a better player on clay than him. Don't be too hard on Gulbis

not so sure about Monaco being  'that much better' on clay. OK, I admit I've been to harsh when it comes to Gulbis. forgive me I'm going through a mid life crises

Monaco is no slouch on clay.
Gulbis is playing better this year for sure.
Alex's 'mid-life crisis' portends an early demise. :(
CONK da ball!!!

Wawrinka simply spanked Murray. I'm really not sure why Murray can't play on clay. Congrats to Stan. Fed back to #2 btw.

I don't know why we're all getting excited about this tournament - we KNOW there is only 1 winner and we ALL know who it is. The rest of the guys are just playing for 2nd place on down points! Let me go ahead and congrats Nadal right now. It'll save me from having to do it on Sunday. Lol

Yeah, Sunday will be a bit of

But at least I've enjoyed Nole-Youzhny, Tsonga-Davy/Melzer, Stan-Andy, and Nieminen-DelPo matches. And tomorrow looks nice with Tsonga-Wawa, Gasquet-Fog, and hopefully Nieminen-Nole. Gasquet-Fog is great already because not often you see two non-top8 players playing against each other in a M1000/GS QF.
