not so sure about Monaco being  'that much better' on clay. OK, I admit I've been to harsh when it comes to Gulbis. forgive me I'm going through a mid life crises

Mid life crises in your 20's? Gee, what does that make me??? Lol

hun, are you out of your mind? try mid 40s. I'm 44 yo. but to tell you a secret I look like I'm 37  :rofl_2:

anyways, not impressed with Djokovic at all. sure he won, he he looked so lethargic and bored on the court.

Nieminen and Fognini winning tomorrow would be so great, we'd have a new M1000 finalist for sure. The Fog can definitely beat Gasquet but even though Nole isn't in his best shape, he'll probably routine our Jarkko.

Wawrinka simply spanked Murray. I'm really not sure why Murray can't play on clay. Congrats to Stan. Fed back to #2 btw.

Just what Sid would expect from a hater. You're no better either, you hateful Dallas. If you two don't have something nice to say about Murray, don't say nothing!

I appreciated Fogninis victory greatly, excellent play by him. I predicted it too. The odds on him before the match were ridiculous. He's beaten Berdych at MC before.

Stan: Please have an autographed can of Lindt chocolates as a token of my thanks for getting me back to #2 without lifting my racquet. - Roger

My pleasure Roger. You're the best #2 in history. - Stan

I like Fognini, too, but I only picked him to 3R. To me, monumental win  :)

Looool!  Does that include the women here too!
To be honest, Babblelot, I've felt almost emasculated about how lacking my icons/ banners are.  This is why I needed to be the universe.  :rofl_2:

As for the tennis, Dimitrov played very well against Nadal & should be proud to have done what few others can.  He played to his own strengths - it was a thing of beauty to see him handle Nadal.
And I concluded, yet again that  Nadal's coach is a first class prat.

As was Tsonga / Wawrinka - a good match too with Tsonga raising his level just enough to clinch it. Nice to see him get to his first 1000 series semi-final in a couple of years.

Fognini has looked good here, and is up a break against Gasquet in the 1st set. This could be a match to watch too.

Carpe Diem

That was a big signature.  :)>>>>

I have mine turned off, it takes too long for the page to load.
Besides, I'm interested in good posts and a lot of them, that's my preference.

Now..........    I'll have to rewatch that Dimi Nads match. Dimi never looked like he had much talent to me but maybe he's progressed.

You know, I have never been a fan of clay season tbh... But after this week, I am even less a fan of clay tennis... This is just slow, slow, slow!!! and BORING!!! I mean, Let's see Nadal vs. Dimitrov match, some quality points, but very freaking boring.. Congrats to Rafa on winning the match, but this match and all matches this week only goes to show how boring clay tennis is...

I know everybody has his/her preferences, but I really don't get why people LOVE clay tennis, is just SLOOW. There is no skill whatsoever, just massive top spin, and grinding, grinding, grinding!! I know this is just my opinion, but that is just how I see it.. let's put the ball in play with massive top spin and let the other make the mistake, why apply skills on clay if it is too slow and everybody can get to the ball? Intelligent clay tennis is be fit and endure 4 hours running, putting the ball into play and try to hit massive top spin... In the end, your oponent will miss one, let's just wait for that to happen!! Come on!! What was it... 15 WINNERS IN THE ENTIRE MATCH?? BETWEEN THE 2 OF THEM? BORING!

I don't like clay as much as other surfaces for some of the same reasons you've outlined.

If a ball is hit hard to the corner it shouldn't be so slow that it isn't a winner most the time.
Players give up on that type of shot for the most part, some do like that kind of game however.

I will watch many of those matches on clay though especially if I have a favorite player in the mix or a good matchup.

Well done to Fognini !!  I'm a fan of Gasquet, but FF was just too good today.  It's a nice story to see him reach one of the best results of his career in getting to the SF here.

Nieminen has had a great tournament thus far & Djokovic got here despite not playing his best.  So has  Nieminen  peeked and can Djokovic go up a gear if necessary?
