Tennis Court Condition

(1/1)

Tennis4you:
Emailed to me, what say you Jimmy D!?!

--- Quote ---I coach a high school tennis team and I recently ran into an interesting situation.  We went to play at a school and their courts made me wonder if they were even eligible to host home games.  Now, even our "home" courts have cracks and a few cosmetic flaws, but these courts had whole sections of lines missing (including most of the service "T" on one court).  Several of my players felt that they had a hard time calling the lines and that the opposing players took advantage of the state of the court by calling several of their good shots out.

Now, before you tell me to consult the rules, Tennessee high schools all bow to USTA rules and I searched the entirety of the USTA rules before I contacted you (or, I really feel like I did).  We are probably going to see this squad again and since they are seeded higher than us we will have to play at their courts.  Is there a rule that applies in this case or do we just have to accept their "home-court advantage?"

hmmmmm.  Good one.  I am going to have to research this one but I do not think this one is covered under USTA rules.  If officials were running a tournament there, they would inspect the site before beginning play and I can't imagine they would put any kid in danger by running them out onto dangerous courts.  But since this coach already knows what the conditions are like, before playing there again, I would at a minimum call the league director/commissioner/whoever and voice my concerns and maybe they would force a change in venue.

monstertruck:
Odd how there is no minimum standard.
No one would play on a baseball field with no bases....
