MT,

Have you watched any Ferrer matches at RG?

Well, the guy it's consistent but that's a great thing. Look at Tsonga for example.

Anyways, tomorrow I hope you watch the final. I'll be around and we can discuss how Ferrer "grinds" in that match and play conservative.  ;-()

Yes.
Yes.
Tsonga is indeed inconsistent.
I won't be around tomorrow, I'll actually be on Har-Tru practicing for next week's tournament.
I fully expect David to play out of his comfort zone and be more aggressive if he intends to win points.  His improved serve should help some, and his ROS needs to be on fire as Rafa has had some work done on his serve.  Fortunately, Nadal saves his best serves for clutch points and is quite content to just hit solid serves the remainder of the time.  Perhaps Ferrer's 'freshness' will help him some, but the weight of their previous encounters on clay may be more than he can bear.  He may well resign himself to 2nd best on the morrow before having even hit a single ball.

You enjoy 'watching'.
I'll enjoy 'playing'. ;-()
After all, I am pro fan last of all on me list in case you hadn't noticed. :)

I enjoy both!

Lately since moving to FL, I have stepped up big time with tennis and left basketball (can't do both). I just joined a flex league for both doubles and single. I do need a coach of course but I can say there is plenty of natural talent. One of my challenge its ROS, mostly because it's hard to find people with a good serve in the neighborhood and when you find one you end up looking silly.

That's enough.....don't want to derail the thread with my game.  ;-()

After taking a quick look, seems that Leconte/Noah in 1984 are the last French doubles champs at RG. Now Llodra/Mahut are playing in the final, hopefully they'll win. Llodra, partnering Santoro, was in the final already in 2004.

Llodra/Mahut and Bryans are tied 1 set all.  :)

:mad1: Why can no one return the Bryans serves?

That's awesome!
When you're ready, I hope you find a coach that can help your game.
HOT TIP-  even if you can't find a good server to practice with, a not so good server can serve you balls from his service line very effectively.  The reduced reaction time coupled with the improved accuracy (hopefully!) of the server really pushes the returner to anticipate, read, react and shorten up his swing.

You could always post in the mostly dormant journal section and help revive that.

Once or twice a year I get called out of retirement by my former disciple 'Grasshopper' to play in local tourneys.  This is usually preceded by some half-arsed practicing in the lead up weeks in some lame attempt to trim up the beer gut and clean some of the cigar smoke out of me lungs.  Highly ineffective, but it's fun to pretend.

Plenty of old sticks and some nice Wilson's to choose from on the wall of fame.  Sorry, no Babbleots though! :(

Thanks for the tip!  If nobody wants to be my "lab rat"......I'll get the wife to hit from the service line just like you say. It should be fun!

I was at this casino minding my own business, and this guy came up to me and said, "You're gonna have to move, you're blocking a fire exit." As though if there was a fire, I wasn't gonna run. If you're flammible and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit.  - Mitch Hedberg

Quite high a probability for rain in Paris this afternoon. Yet it may stop raining in the evening.

http://www.weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/graph/Paris+FRXX0076:1:FR

Hopefully they can get the final played today, I may miss it if they'll have to play tomorrow.

And wet courts today might help Ferrer a bit.

Cool overcast weather = lower bounce.  Currently light rain 15C/59F.  Game time temp - 17C/63F.
Don't know if will help Ferrer enough though.

:) This is what it is like to play Rafa:

Stan: Heh, Heh, I'll destroy my racquet to impress Rafa.
Stan: Ummph! Crack
Stan-Rafa:
Stan: Such a feeling of helplessness...
Roger:  Oh, I know...

:dunno:   :)) :))

Respectfully,

The biggest encouragement for Nole fans is that eventhough he was emotionally drained, had shoulder problems, and his BH DTL (his bread-and-butter shot) was completely AWOL, he still managed to take Rafa to 5 sets and almost won it.

A fully fit Nole would have had a far easier time out there. He knows it and will be eager to prove it next year.

With Llodra/Mahut losing to the Bryans, and Errani/Vinci being outplayed by Vesnina/Makarova, and with Sharapova unable to take a set off Williams, my side of the trophy table is well & truly empty this Roland Garros!    :confused1:   :))

Well done to SW & the Bryans.  US tennis might be lacking a men's champion, but its ladies & doubles contingent is simply outstanding.   And congratulation to Vesnina/Makarova in winning their first GS.

So in the end - other than Vesnina/Makarova - the expected results, as DF is unlikely to win. But I'm open to being wrong about that!!
