How far down will Roger fall in the rankings?
If Berdych wins then Fed will go to #5.

Well that's ONE player I hope doesn't win.  Not that Roger will fall to #5, but that I just don't like Berdych! ..-)  I'm telling you...the way this Wimbledon is playing out... Serena, Novak, and Murray need to really be careful in their next matches!

Roger Federer will drop to at least No. 5 in the rankings after the tournament. He hasn't been out of the top four since before he won his first Grand Slam title here in 2003. If Tomas Berdych wins the title here, Federer will drop to No.6.

Pawan, if you want another thread stickied, you better act now. Herc is ready to start the official US Open thread.

This thread is dead to T4U.

Hmm, my favourites now are, in order:

Dimitrov
Gulbis
Murray
Djokovic
Berdych

I like Berdych, just not sure if he's a fitting champion. I want Murray to win this one now. I still can't digest the fact that Roger just lost in the second round of a grand slam, of WIMBLEDON. Maybe he should retire  :rofl_2:

It was such a fun match to watch though. Stakhovsky played some fun tennis. Alright England, let's strike a deal. Last year Federer took Wimbledon and Murray took USOpen. This year Federer is giving Murray Wimbledon so it's only fair that Murray allow Federer to take USOpen right?

I could go for this, but i think Alex might have somthing to say on this  :zipped:

Thanks for the update on the rankings.  I don't think it's about the rankings too much for Roger this year.  It'll be interesting to see what Roger says and how he takes this loss.  He has said he just loves tennis so all those who are saying he should retire - I don't think that's going to happen unless he has changed his mind.  He said he just loves the game too much to give it up.  There is nothing wrong with that.  If he retired -- what would he do???

I'd like to see Jerzy or Gulbis vs. DelPo for the final.  :king:   :king:

And General Fed can rest up, lick his wounds and get a sense of purpose again.

guess what?  June 26, 2002: 7-time champ Pete Sampras loses in 2nd RD to No. 145 George Bastl at Wimbledon  :shocking: :shocking: :shocking:

Just what a day of tennis it was! Sad that there was all those injuries, now we don't know how how good a player Nadal lost to. And too bad Tsonga had the knee injury, I had high hopes for this Wimbledon and he was playing very well in the 1st set. The good thing was that he didn't have to play many matches with that knee, hopefully it'll be OK soon. And on women's side, Azarenka out. I think she's the only player who could've beaten Serena.

Then to nice memories from today. Michelle Larcher de Brito beat Sharapova. Yeah Sharapova had those falls but Larcher de Brito didn't so you can't blame only the court. Michelle played well and deserved the win. Upset wins are always nice.

And the biggest upset was Stakhovsky beating Fed. One year ago I would've been very sad now. Last year I was rooting so heavily for Fed when he was struggling against Benneteau. Yeah, Benny winning that match would've been so special for him. But I wanted Fed to win yet one more Wimbledon title. After that I was happy with Fed's career. I still cheered for him at the Olympics and will cheer also at Rio if he still plays there and I don't know any other player who I'd like to win Olympic gold more. But otherwise I root now for underdogs against Fed. It was great to see Stako managing to beat Federer in a slam at Fed's best surface. He was playing so well and he had the testicular fortitude not to fold like a chep tent. Yeah, I was a bit sad as Fed's QF streak ended. It's been such an incredible streak and will be hard to achieve for anybody else. For all those years he's always managed to find a way to beat the non-top 10 players, today he can't anymore. Hopefully he'll bounce back at the USO, like he did after the annoying RG & SW19 final losses.

Sid, you may not have to worry about the seeded players beating Murray. Who is left in the draw on his side ranked in the 100's? Those seem to be the dangerous players in this Wimbledon! Lol
