Just what a day of tennis it was! Sad that there was all those injuries, now we don't know how how good a player Nadal lost to. And too bad Tsonga had the knee injury, I had high hopes for this Wimbledon and he was playing very well in the 1st set. The good thing was that he didn't have to play many matches with that knee, hopefully it'll be OK soon. And on women's side, Azarenka out. I think she's the only player who could've beaten Serena.
Then to nice memories from today. Michelle Larcher de Brito beat Sharapova. Yeah Sharapova had those falls but Larcher de Brito didn't so you can't blame only the court. Michelle played well and deserved the win. Upset wins are always nice.
And the biggest upset was Stakhovsky beating Fed. One year ago I would've been very sad now. Last year I was rooting so heavily for Fed when he was struggling against Benneteau. Yeah, Benny winning that match would've been so special for him. But I wanted Fed to win yet one more Wimbledon title. After that I was happy with Fed's career. I still cheered for him at the Olympics and will cheer also at Rio if he still plays there and I don't know any other player who I'd like to win Olympic gold more. But otherwise I root now for underdogs against Fed. It was great to see Stako managing to beat Federer in a slam at Fed's best surface. He was playing so well and he had the testicular fortitude not to fold like a chep tent. Yeah, I was a bit sad as Fed's QF streak ended. It's been such an incredible streak and will be hard to achieve for anybody else. For all those years he's always managed to find a way to beat the non-top 10 players, today he can't anymore. Hopefully he'll bounce back at the USO, like he did after the annoying RG & SW19 final losses.
