Berdych breaks to start the 3rd set.

The Puerto Rican is a game away from the second week.

Madison Keys and Radwanska on serve

I am little bummed over Tomic losing the 2nd while he had 4 set points in the previous game. He played with some really close margin and I wish he was a bit more cautious.

Gulbis I thought was mentally spent after his win over Tsogna. I know Tsonga retired in the 4th but he was in a losing position and I never like it when players retire when they are losing.

I have nothing against player retiring in losing positions if playing could make the injury worse. That was the case with Jo on Wednesday.

But another thing is if a player retires only because he's in a losing position or retires when the opponent is serving for the match, like Tipsarevic did some years ago in a grass 250 final against Seppi.

Some players truly retire because of injuries but not all. Sometimes ego stand in the way and players retire because they don't want to lose against certain players. I like Tsonga but I wasn't convinced about his injury.
You are everything I am not.

I don't mind Ferrer off court or Nadal or almost any other player. I 'judge' them while on court.

When you talk about style of the game, Ferrer is one of the last persons on tour I could root for.
I also don't like his personality on court. His delayed grunts are too disgusting for me to like, and he always looks pumped running around like a bulldog and celebrating too much.
I lost some respect for Nadal after he bumped Rosol at the changeover, really uncool. And don't like his fixed eyes on the opponent like he's some sort of MMA fighter or whatnot.
But I'm far from hating them.

Haas is an exception though. He's not your typical german, he's very emotional and self critical. Sometimes looks like he's gonna get out of his skin. Kicking his legs with a racket, talking to himself, swearing in german.....
But you will never see him being disrespectful to the opponent and you won't see him celebrating every point that much, if any.

In general I like calm guys, with certain amount of self criticism which is more expressed by Haas than the likes of Kohli or Stan, Fed etc etc...

well when I said germans, I didn't mean tennis players but germans in general.
Also Kohli kinda doesn't belong there.

Stich was unusually calm. I strictly remember some of his matches vs Pete. And Sampras used to be very calm too but he's never liked by Luggy even when he had a very attacking game. So basically Luggy has his preferences and the model doesn't always follow the same rule.

Kohli is a meltdown waiting to happen. Go back to AO vs Nieminin circa 2009. What a pissy b**ch. He totally belongs.

That said, I forgave him and like him a lot now  :)

yeah that could happen to any calm guy, but in general he's calm, especially since 2009.

I really don't mind self criticism or smashing rackets, every player deserved one so I couldn't care less. But I don't stand whining and disrespectful behavior to the opponents. Sometimes I make an exception and forgive him such as Berdych etc

That's good but you cannot have your personal preference as the most ideal out there and that's my point. You like points being shorter while they are many who like the other way around. We need to understand that everyone is different and they all have their preferences and that doesn't necessarily make it an ideal scenario and certainly doesn't set the ground as either right or wrong. Meaning there's no right or wrong standard out there since it varies from person to person.
