you are right. Fed's chances just went up and he is bad match up for Nole on grass.

I was just joking.                    Murray will wear him down if he gets that far.  :dunno:

Well Stan is out.  Good match from Hewitt.  Lot's of "surprises" on day 1!  I just believe a real "contender" should not play the week before a major.  Just my opinion.

There are still some pretty good players left in this side of the draw but a great chance for Hewitt to go deeper.

With Nadal out a place in the QF looks entirely possible for Rusty, if he can get past Isner.

He has a pretty good record against Isner.

#s 5 and 11 go out without a fight today, 6-0 sets.

Despite the upsets, the favorite wasn't very competitive today. Pretty lame day all the way around for the men. Only Rosol and some dute named Reister went 5 sets. Reister won.

Wait, What?

Isner has his best chance to get to a QF since 2011?

great performance by Hewitt. beautiful shot making, net play, everything worked out for him today. I agree with Babs that Stan was too passive, kinda flat. Nowadays you just never know which Wawrinka will show up.

Sid, no, we didn't forget about Muzza. I was going to say 'if' Nole meets Fed. again it's too early. many matches to be played.

I'm looking forward now for a potential Fed/Hewitt QF.

Hewitt when he's on can be a bad match up for quite a few on grass in R1,R2,R3,R4.Hewitt i can't see him ever winning the whole thing today, but can be a pain in the first week.

I know that chill,i would not like to call who would win this year.Roger v Murray might happen? fingers crossed & a open Roof.Nole has a cake walk this year,i'd be shocked if he was not waiting in the Final for either Roger or Andy.Dallas will come back with one match @ a time lol.Fed/Hewitt QF & Hewitt will get toasted by Roger,he will have no chance, his game not good v Roger.Shocks can happen as we saw today, but i'd bet one of the top 3 seeds left will win Wimby. What one who knows?,no one till it's won?.

hang on to your draws general alex.

I know you don't ever want to see nadal again but he is not going away just yet. he is going to hang around long enough to slap your player with a few more losses at RG.

he was visibly limping but its his own damn fault. the blundering buffoon was out practicing on the hard courts after RG.

so the idiot got what he deserves. he either should have jumped right back on clay or grass to give the knee a break.

In the interview I read, he mentioned 'not mentioning' the knee/injury on six seperate occasions while mouthing the words 'full credit' to Darcius.

No, I'm not serious.
It is, however, more likely than a first round loss at a Grand Slam for Nadal.

There's a problem there.
I don't think he's ever fully recovered, and it may not be possible.
All that being said, full credit to Darcius for playing relaxed, grass court tennis.  He saw a weak Nadal and took full advantage.
CONK da ball!!!

he was not prepared and he played a terrible match. he failed to make any adjustments at all.

darcis came in with a 28% winning percentage at slams and nadal at nearly 90% (88% to be exact) winning percentage at slams.

all good things do come to an end if you don't bother to improve. I am not going to say it was the knee because it was not. you can win even when playing in pain. you just make the adjustments and keep fighting.

there is no improvement in the return of serve and his backhand was terrible. he had almost no confidence in his backhand at all.

he also played wrong: he again gave up 1/2 the court by trying to run around his backhand all the time.

finally he pushed when he needed to charge ahead bravely.
