I couldn't watch, doesn't appear anyone did, but Fognini had to save 3 MPs against this guy. I still haven't seen him...
Delbonis is impressive, Babblelot.
I knew little about him (he once gave Nadal a good battle) but watched the SF's & Final. He played almost flawlessly in the SF, with Federer on the back foot. Good defence, but plays a useful net game too, and likes to finish off points when he can. What impressed me in that match as he took his chances very well, Federer looking incompetent when he failed to capitalise any chances he had.
FD went on to play at a very high level until he lost focus in the 2nd set, having broken Fognini twice.
I look forward to watching his progress in Gstaad.
Fognini has been consistent of late, and his first title win in Stutgart no doubt added confidence going into Hamburg. He remained focused, playing very well to put pressure on FD to take back the breaks against him in the 2nd set, and winning it. From then on FF didn't look back, taking the last set 6-2.
His demeanour speaks volumes. He seems to be enjoying his time on court & is able to play free.
I'm pleased for him to to finally get some wins, and climb rankings.
Congratulations to both finalists. It was good to see FD playing so well and making it to the final, and FF taking his second ATP title.
