The Tennis4You Master Plan.
« on: July 13, 2013, 11:49:56 AM »
After recent events we have all come to the conclusion, I hope. That things need to become more active around here. So to do that I have come up with a few ideas (I would like to hear the opinions of Dallas and Scott first), that I will bring to the forum in the future.

  • Firstly, I would like to revive the match thread section. Make threads for most of the matches going on (just like at MTF,only less irritating).
  • When a match has finished, then like at MTF, make a result thread and a thread for the next round.

The rest of the forum is pretty much fine, I see we have threads that cover the overall tournaments each week, which is nice to see. But I think the match threads is what needs to be reinstated.

We don't do it like that. I think that's so because we don't have a ton of posters. Individual match threads have never caught on. We've been inclined to keep an entire tournament thread.

If the number of posters increases then we can have the individual threads.
Right now the post count would be small in those threads and take up space for more popular threads.

It wouldn't hurt for big matches though.

I like the idea of match threads, but as mentioned above the lesser activity means the threads do not thrive well at all.  That is pretty much done in the tourney threads as the matches go.  If we get bigger someday we can entertain the idea. : )

Good, solid, rational posters.  That is the goal.  I want a healthy tennis forum, but healthy with content, not stupid #s.  You all rock!

Scott, I can understand your goal, and a board with such members would be ideal. But may I suggest a more pro-active moderation of the forum please. Avoiding stupidity might require appropriate, timely action.   :)

Maybe there could be separate threads for ATP and WTA during slams. It would serve two purposes:

1) WTA wouldn't get buried in a thread mainly about ATP.

2) If the WTA thread would be lively, maybe it'd bring WTA fans here.

We had always done it that way, but after Chris left, we stopped because only a few of us like to talk about women's tennis.

It wouldn't be hard to go back. I'm surprised we went 3 slams without a WTA thread TBH.

Why would he only delete half your posts?
That seems a little ribiculous.  Just get rid of all of them!
Especially all those stupid pictures you took of tennis from the cheap seats.
I mean really, who the hell wants to see that?
I'd much rather see giant sigs full of fangirl pics.
