Tursunov is making  dumb UE, gifts a break to DP.

Nice play by Tursonov in the second set. He takes it. 4:6 6:3. the third set should be fun. this match is closer than I expected.

DP def. Tursunov 6:4 3:6 6:1. decent match, but Tursunov was spraying too many UE.

Nole/Isner next. Where is everyone?

Isner takes the first set in TB 7:6 (5). Djokovic is playing sh!t and something is bothering him (eyes I think, his contact lenses, but I'm not sure). Isner serving great as usual.

C'mon Nole, wake up man  :cheer:.

Hello Alex.  It was a close first set & tb. I'm surprised at how close with JI winning it.

But it looks like ND is settling into his momentum with the break.

Earlier, I enjoyed the first 2 sets between Del Potro & Tursunov, and D-P stomping ahead in the third set

EDIT:  Isner to serve to stay in the set @ 2- 5.    He holds, so ND will have to serve it out.

I watched a bit of the Vinci-Jankovic match but gave up after JJ won it 6-0.

ND wins the second set 6-3.   He isn't playing his best game out there but has gone up a level since the first set. I think he'll take the 3rd set as straightforwardly as the 2nd set.

hey GBY. It looks like Djokovic is settling down, but I don't know ... I'm kinda nervous. Novak is usually very calm, today for whatever reason he seems to be disturbed with something.

Anyways, praying for Nole and Fed to go through  ://. I'll be watching all matches, so let's have some fun  :)).

I think Djokovic will do it Alex, but I agree that Isner hasn't eased off & is putting up a really good effort. But ND has a chance to break.  Gone to deuce.

Murray / Berdych are playing.  Come on Murray!

Edit: It's now 4-4 in the Djokovic match.

What the hell, Djokovic makes a double fault and backhand errors at wrost time. He sends Isner to Semi-Final.

sh!t. Nole lost,  great  :mad1:. I'm pissed at Djokovic. I don't know what the heck he was trying to do today. He was so flat. Kudos to Isner who served great and played his game.

Congrats to Isner, better player won today.

Very enthralling match until the last game. 2 or 3? easy balls into the net and a DF!

John was nothing less than awesome today! First win over world #1.  :applause:

it's  not the first win. Isner def. Djokovic in IW  ;-(). Kudos to Isner again. Djokovic is an idiot to finish match like this. He gave it to Isner on a silver plate  :cursing:.

Wow!  I went away for a bit & came back to match point for Isner! He lost the first chance, but took the next one to get to match point again. And Djokovic double faulted!  A pity it had to end like that after a very close third set.

Congratulations to Isner on such a momentous win - beating the world number one is a great achievement.  I'm impressed with how well Isner has played of late, with a much improved all court game, volleying on approach shots a lot more. More than this, he looks confident. Good stuff.

Sorry to Alex and Djokovic fans.  He simply didn't seem settled enough to play his best game out there. I wondered how he's do in a challenging match as he hasn't looked himself of late. Perhaps he hadn't expected this sort of challenge from Isner - who knows.  He'll no doubt re-group for the USO.

And Berdych took the first set 6-3!  I hope Murray can get back the momentum & make a match of it.
Nice point just there from him at the net to get to 30-0.
Carpe Diem

Djokovic just made the quickest appearance for a post-match press conference that I have ever seen.  Barely Isner left the court after talking to the micro following the handshake, Djokovic was already walking into the interview room.  He was extremely disappointed, gave quick answers to questions, said he simply played "really bad", and left as quick as he came.

On another note, Connors and Sharapova already split up..   I figured two mammoth egos would not last together for too long, but this went even faster than I expected..  It took one match.  I heard it was Sharapova's initiative.  Connors did say after the loss that it was a letdown but that they would go back to work the next day.  Apparently that one day may have been enough.

That was a great match for John Isner  :)) . One knew that if he had not won that last game, he would have won the tie-break anyway. At those two match points, there were those silences that are almost unearthly when you see so many people in front of you. ....and, thank goodness, there was no background music from outside.  Nole did some nice things but only occasionally looked like :first-place:  .

Del Potro - Tusunov was good to watch but not one of the great ones. Tusunov has been playing very well this year. He also got to the quarters in Washington, where I believe he was taken out by Isner also, who then went on to a great final. I have seen Del Potro play better (e.g. in Washington) and I am already wondering how far he'll get here.

I'll be going back tonight for Fed - Nadal.   :)

btw guys. Djokovic deserved to lose this. no ifs or buts. he has nobody but himself to blame. Isner served great and played within himself. Djokovic with BH completely off, making DF on key points ... I have to give him a credit for playing fantastic net game today (meaning he was great at sending easy balls to the net ).
