Fed plays his 1st match later today. There's been no big upsets the first three days of play, 7th seed Lukas Rosol is only seed to lose so far, and he hasn't been playing well lately.

All I can say is "Wow".... another crushing defeat for Roger. :(

He's still my man though!!!!! Still proud of what he's accomplished in his career!  Go Roger!

Dallas, think about it this way. He's changed his racquet ... he hasn't played small tournaments on clay for ages ... I see it as simply 'experimenting' ... I'm not saying he 'literally' tanked his matches but  :innocent: ... let's see what happens during the American HC season

He keeps saying that there is no reason to panic, but....

This is now the third defeat against much lower ranked players :
Stakhovsky : #116
Delbonis : # 114
Brands : #55
Who's next ?
If he doesn't get it together, he's going to take a beating  at the Rogers Cup and in Cincinnati, and could really suffer in the rankings..

He has no points to defend from Canada, since he did not play there last year, but in Cincinnati there are a 1000 points to be defended...

He's clearly improving. He's losing to higher and higher ranked players.

I haven't been able to watch any tennis all week.  Some interesting results in Gstaad - Federer out in his first match, apparently suffering from a back injury. An unfortunate development at this stage of his career.  That ought not to detract from Brands effort - he clearly played very well to win 3 & 4.

Wawrinka out to Lopez - I've missed some beautiful single handed back hands in that match!   :)

Robin Haase can be very entertaining. That is my one watch of the SF's, although I like Youzhny's game too.

Here are the QF results:

F Lopez    defeats   S Wawrinka   64 26 43
R Haase    defeats   M Granollers   57 63 76(5)
V Hanescu   defeats   D Brands   63 64
M Youzhny   defeats   J Monaco   57 64 76(7)

F Lopez    defeats   S Wawrinka   64 26 43

Stan and his mysterious ways continue but great to see Lopez playing good tennis coming off injury. :good:

Lopez can be fun to watch.
I've never really warmed to Stan, though his BH is a thing of beauty.
Such confidence!

I did not like Stan at first, but then Federer emailed me and and told me Stan is the man, so now I like him.  I seem to like him more than I did.  Some nice efforts in big matches, good sport.
Good Luck on the Court!!!
